£70 Parking Fine in non P&D Car Park

Maybe, but he has a point, what if it was parked on a driveway, or private land? as both are techniclly the same, could I for example, blatently park my car on somebody's lawn, safe in the knowledge, that there is nothing they can legally do to stop me?
They could sue you for any damage caused by your car to their lawn.
Otherwise, then under the law it is a civil matter. No signs means very little that could be done there and then. (Although in the real world, lets be honest that leaving your car on someone elses land will likely result in your car being damaged).
If you are blocking access to a driveway, e.g. parking on the public road across a driveway, then it would become a criminal matter and the police and/or council could be involved to remove the car or take action against the driver. I think it is section 137 of the Highways Act 1980 which covers willfully obstructing the highway. (This is assuming that there is a recognised right of way onto your driveway via a dropped kerb or similar. In some areas this may mean getting the council to paint lines across the front of your driveway).0 -
I would have thought this would come under unauthorised trespass. And in the real world, theres plenty of cars getting dumped on unauthorised private land, that are already trashed and damaged, and definatley wont be going anywhere. But if the owner of the vehicle, needs to dump it somewhere, but lets say keep it for parts, he can illegaly park it on any private land he wants, and the worse that can happen to it, is it gets torched.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Not much point in dumping a car in the way you describe when the price of scrap is as good as it is at present. I scrapped an old car a few weeks ago and received £86.00 for it (£85.00 per ton).
If anyone decides to dump an old car on my property I know how to deal with it!0 -

Not bad, it was only a few years ago I seem to remember my friends had to actually pay for their cars to be scrapped. You need to turn your garden into a car dumping trap and you'd have a nice little earner.
I suppose you'd have to check if the cars were stolen first.
I wonder what'd happen if you took a car to be scrapped that was parked on your land (as opposed to dumped). E.g. someone decided to park on your driveway (which I'm told never happens)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

In the case I mentioned I had to get the car to the scrap yard myself and also dispose of the wheels /tyres myself. The local council tip allowed me to dispose of the wheels / tyres free of charge.
At the risk of getting slightly further off subject the final journey that the scrapped car takes might be of interest. I understand that once the scrapped cars have had fluids removed etc. and have been crushed they are then transported by road to Liverpool Docks. From there they are then sent to China.0 -
China seem to get all our junk, ive heard that old computers and monitors, are stripped and sent there too. There was a time I remember when anything recycled from Pop Bottles to empty cans, could be weighed in and turned into cash.
How things have changed, nowadays they fine you if you dont recycle your waste properly.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

There cant be much left to re-recycle from an Ipod, ,mind you the new modern cars being massed produced there, probably have about as much weight in scrap as an ipod.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

And waiting in line for the launch of the next generation fantastic ipod we set off to go home only to find a parking ticket on the car."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Or an invoice.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
