there has be be some sort of control in these shopping centres as workers/visitors/football fans park all day and it`s impossible to get parked as I found out recently our Walmart Asda have Euro parks doing the business it is not illegal to take a photo of the car with a ticket on the vehicle most people get angry when they are caught out if there are lines and signs thats it no argument btw the only people who can clamp you in Scotland are the DVLA if your vehicle is not taxed
please do not pick on me for my grammar,I left school at fifteen and worked in the building trade for 55years ,

Re. the need for control over parking on private land.

I have never disputed that it's privately owned land, nor that unauthorised parking can cause a real nuisance in some cases.

But what's wrong with a simple barrier that goes up on exit/entry, and giving a card to those people you want to use the car park?

Before bluelagoon says "why should I have to fit a barrier?" - well, that's rather like me saying "why should I have a lock on my front door?" If it's private property, secure it!

There are plenty of places I can think of around here where a barrier would be simply physically impossible on some business car parks. And your analogy of the front door isn't really comparable, as mentioned it's more comparable to your driveway and there are plenty of driveways that don't have barriers, gates or even any walls.

Suppose you don't lock your front door, does that make it any less illegal for someone to go into your house uninvited.

  • Labman,
    Only Me............thinking again.
Have you calmed down yet? Seems quite easy to get on your wrong side. Oh Hum.;)

Yogibear mentions an aspect of the Scottish law as well. Very interesting.:D

I think (Yes, it it allowed on here!!)that very soon these car parking firms will be brought down to earth with a bang as the law down here outlaws them and their activities and stops them accessing the DVLA.
The more we write to the Information Commissioner and our MP's etc to highlight the way they are exploiting this situation the quicker they will be outlawed.
There must be a way to block our details from being given out-especially if you believe such a disclosure could end up causing problems. I am investigating this possibility as we speak.

I am horrified that these companies are able to get registered keeper details so easily and think this is outrageous and dangerous. There seems nothing to stop this sensitive information being abused.

Bluelagoon is very protective of his personal details on here but it works both ways-registered keepers of vehicles are just as protective of their details being churned out willy nilly to turn a profit.

I think this is really hypocritical to lambast someone for not revealing their personal information on the forum no matter what you think of their opinions, facts, stance. For one revealing perosnal info about yourself or requesting others to is against forum rules so let it go and actually discuss the relevant stuff.

I wouldn't want to identify myself to you either

For clarification, I never asked for bluelagoon's name or home address or anything that could be used to identify him/her.

I simply requested the business address at which this car park operates. If this was divulged to me, I can't see how it would compromise the personal safety of bluelagoon, given the fact that I still wouldn't have a clue who he/she was??

I don't think there's anything "personal" about revealing the location of a car park.

You gotta love the irony here though - bluelagoon feels quite entitled to have the personal details of others (obtained completely without their permission) from the DVLA!

I don't see that much difference, I wouldn't give you my business address either?!? Especially to someone who's obviously affected by it so emotionally, not that there's anything wrong with that, considering your circumstances with your grandmother it's quite justified and understandable but there seems to be a lot of transferrence of somehow making bluelagoon out to be the bad guy and a focal point for all this hostility. I don't in any way defend bluelagoon's position but I don't agree with the way you and a couple of others are disagreeing with him.

Sadly it seems to be a common tactic to attack people in forums for not doing something they'd never consider doing themselves.

I've even been attacked for posting late at night!

As I have already said in a previous reply to you, the business address is linked to a company that is listed at Companies House where you can get the names and addresses of the directors and shareholders.

I wouldn't encourage anyone to post any personal information in a forum, especially one where such hostility exists.

Regarding the DVLA information, we are not privy to that - only CPS see it. Anyway, if someone doesn't want to have their DVLA information queried just don't park on private land where a parking control scheme exists.

My grandmother was scammed by an outfit similar to CPS three weeks before her death. She was one of the kindest people on this earth. I will never forgive that company for the stress and worry it caused her in the final days of her life.

You know full well that plenty of people in society will panic, and pay up through fear and ignorance when they receive your documents. That is the absolute key to the way CPS operates.

It is vile and shameful to pick on the weak.

I'm sorry to hear that, but you haven't provided much information.

Did she simply overstay in an Aldi car park for 10 minutes or did she drive on to someone's private land and park up for an hour?

All my posts relate to parking on private land and I've never said that huge charges for short overstays are acceptable.

Just in case anyone is interested, I've uploaded a photograph of a car that we ticketed a couple of days ago. You can see just how silly some people are given the positioning of our signage (we only have 25 spaces but have placed 10 big red signs in our car park).
