What can I do with breadcrumbs?

As well as chicken nuggets, chicken escalopes/turkey escalopes are very nice. I know you can use breadcrumbs in Christmas pudding. I do find that I dont keep too much as otherwise my freezer is taken over! I dry the crusts first , and then use my blender to make breadcrumbs and freze in the £ shop containers which are nice and slim. HTH.0

I use breadcrumbs when i make burgers, fish cakes, bean loafs etc to hold the mixture together. Then freeze in individual food bags ready for when i next use them.0

I am going to have a go at making some burgers, so I will use some in that. Might also make some sausage patties.
Thanks!Married the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0 -
I* use them in stuffing and in rissoles. Also cover chicken breasts and fish before frying. I also cut crusts up with scissors into cubes, and fry them for soup croutons.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Hi Bluis,
This earlier thread has lots of ideas that should help:
What can I do with breadcrumbs?
I'll add your thread to it later to keep the suggestions together.

I have mountains too, and use this recipe for bread and butter pudding using crumbs instead of slices.

I tweak it a little, and add more crumbs and sultanas, but it is quick to batch make, freeze in portions and instant puddings for years to come!I will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
mix with seasoning/herbs/cheese and sprinkle over pretty much anything - flick over a bit of oil then bake in the oven for a gratin - works with ratatouille type dishes, cauliflower cheese etc. I'll often mix leftover veg from a dinner into a white sauce and freeze - then cover with the breadcrumb mix and reheat in oven.
You can also bulk out rissoles/meatballs/meatloafs with them or mix a load with warm golden syrup and cook in a pastry case for a treacle tart. Gazpacho soup uses bread.0 -
I mix mine with a bit of cayenne pepper and use to top macoroni cheese - yummy!
HTH a bit

Ooh, that breadcrumb bread pudding sounds interesting, Jexygirl! Might actually get my DS to eat that, while he won't eat normal bread pudding! (Would probably make it a little less rich, though.)I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

What's wrong with eating the crusts in the first place? Lovely stuff!0
