Darn it, my juicer's gone on the blink and I was given lots of yummy apples from a friend's garden yesterday. I managed to make one small glass for a friend who popped in for a natter after we did the school run - yay to us, we both managed not to cry as our not so little ones started Year 1, I did get misty but managed to keep things together, phew!!
Reckon I'll be making stewed apples for the freezer instead then, yummy
I'm determined to make this a NSD today.
Plans for this weekend -
Go to the gym/swim at least once
Go to Brighton/Crawley and exchange a skirt that must have been mis-sized, I know I'm a lard but this is tiny!!
Look for some new winter shoes
Hoover the entire house
Re-read "Why am I so disorganised"......and put some things into practice
Have at least one NSD over Friday to Sunday
Update my Amazon/GM listings of books/CDs
Sort out my wardrobe
Sort out DD's wardrobe
Clean the cooker (this has been on my to do list for about 2 years!!)0 -
Hi Kittikins
Congrats on the new diary - will be lurking around following your progress an wishing you luck along the way.
Try the cosmic ordering for a nice new juicer at a very low cost. Worked for me with a breadmaker. After reading about it on MSE gave it a go and lo and behold whilst shopping in Sainsburys found they were selling off their Panasonic 254 BM at £48 instead of £97 (older model I know but still gets great results) Funny thing was popped back 2 days later and the price was back to £97 - perhaps they were selling off old stock - really don't know but happy that now have lovely fresh bread anytime I want.
I will certainly be communing with the universe again!
Have a great MSE weekend:smileyheaKosmicPink225:smileyhea0 -
Wow, I just sold a cosmic ordering book this week that someone gave me and I thought was rubbish......bad timing huh?!? As I was peeling the apples for stewing, I did wonder how I might get around the juicer issue, but wonder if my dad might be able to take a a look at it for me. I've not used it in ages so knowing what a numpty I can be, it may just be that it was badly set up, lol.
I'd like the universe to send me a fully working computer next, I need it more
Kosmik, don't lurk, get chatting
Mind you, this diary will likely be quite dull, but all ideas very welcome on how I can achieve my many, many financial and other goals!! 0 -
Woo hoo!! As I was walking up to DD's school this afternoon, I found a £5 note lying in the road
So, I tucked it away and treated DD and I to an icelolly on the way home as it was such a nice afternoon and hey, it was free!
So, I'm going to count this as a NSD and put the remaining £2.90 into the pot. Money is flowing to me
I've already put £100.87 in my fund in 3 days - only £1,149.13 to go!0 -
£3.20 moved over, no magical mysterious deposits of cash in any of my bank accounts, no surprise there then, lol.
DD's away now and my to do list is looking boring, especially as the sun is shining!0 -
Gulp. I went shopping today, ostensibly to change an ill-fitting skirt and look for some winter shoes.......and have come back with £65.02 spent!
However, for that I have:
* road map of Britain (not essential but occasionally the sat nav doesn't get a signal, so I've been meaning to have it as a backup)
* Father's/Grandfather's day cards for next year for my dad from DD and I! (£4.75 worth reduced to £1 in M&$, they had loads of them in the sale box)
* many fabulous books to give as presents - to my mum, dad, brother, DD and a friend
* groceries
* 3 bottles of v. reduced yummy wine, okay so the bottles won't win any prizes as they have YS stickers on them and are a bit sticky, but washed off and in the fridge, they'll still taste as good
* lunch for me
* 2 magazine treats for me......but in my defence they have 20% vouchers for shops I want to go to to buy real winter shoes/boots
* v. expensive parking, grr, but unavoidable as there's nowhere in that town to park on the road for free
* changed my skirt and was reassured that this particular style comes up small
* bought a GORGEOUS pair of shoes in M&$ reduced to £9 from £39.50
Unfortunately they're brown, so won't go with everything but I'm going to make a conscious effort to wear the right colours now!
My recommendations:
- go to WH$miths for books, they've got a great range of buy one get one free books. Whilst I was there, I surreptitiously checked the prices of the books online on my mobile and checked that I was getting the best deal possible
- never be a snob about things with yellow stickers on in shops. I've got about £18 worth of vino for £8 *hic*
- set up a separate online account with your current account provider so that when you spend money on a credit card, you can transfer the funds into the separate account asap so that you don't get a nasty surprise when the bill is due.
Right, I'd better start cleaning up this pigsty of a house or else DD will return tomorrow afternoon and there won't be any difference! I think it's time for a 15-minute burst and then a nice sit down with a magazine

Hi there!
Just lurking onto some diaries after starting my own today, and wanted to say hi!
Think you're doing great, and def keep it up! I totally agree about yellow stickered items, I search them out on purpose :-) Most the time the item is still great quality, no point missing out!
I'm off to subscribe now, hope you don't mind, and I will keep popping in.

Hiya Crystalstar, do keep popping in, lovely to know people are reading my ramblings......
I've paid over my £3.20 and saw that my ex has now put this month's pittance maintenance into my account. The aim is to make sure I don't have too many spend days and make sure what I do buy is useful/Xmas presents etc so that I can try and move that into savings at the end of the month.
I'm going to try and have today as a NSD - making some bread rolls for our lunch tomorrow and the car needs petrol but I can put it off for a few days, the better to try and maintain the NSD. I'd love to have 10+ this month.
Just put a bid on a pair of ballet slippers for DD on ebay, hope I get them and that they arrive before her lesson on Friday! They're so expensive new and only get worn for 15 minutes a week....so whilst I wouldn't normally entertain the thought of second hand shoes, these look barely worn and at the moment I'd get them for £2 including postage!!0 -
Darn it, I need 2 new tyres on my car
I thought they were a bit low but my dad checked and they're barely legal, he reckons I've got about another 300 miles before they're illegal!! I've had a look online and it's going to be up to £250 to get them done, but hopefully the Nissan garage will be a tiny bit cheaper. I only use named brand tyres, not the cheapy or retread ones so I probably could get the job done for far less, but I don't want to take the risk.
Ho hum, time to check how much I have in the car account. I try and save £500/year to pay for repairs but was pretty cleared out when I bought my 'new' car in May as it needed taxing/insuring etc etc.0 -
Phew! I have £400 in the car savings account, so I should be okay to get it done asap.
On other good news, my juicer seems to magically fixed itself (either that or I hadn't put it together 100% properly last time - it was spinning but not juicing). Yay!!
I was given a big bag of cooking apples, so have stewed half of them for now and will look on here for some cake/pudding recipes for the rest or give them away. Unfortunately DD doesn't like ANY stewed fruit so I don't really want to fill the whole freezer up with it.....0
