Well done on the transfers. I have a "slush fund" so I am not too concerned about the short term. I want to get to a point where I have 3 months wages saved for the future so that it will allow me to survive in bad times. Alvin Halls mantra of paying yourself [STRIKE]work[/STRIKE] first has, for me, been converted into making sure that I put a percentage of my wage into the online saver first and to treat it as a bill payment. Once it is out of the current account I forget about it unless I have an emergency.

I think a log of the extra stuff is really important - I remember when I was aiming for £300 a month from the extras, and I kept a count of everything - that was the colouring in squares thing, remember? And when you see it like that, how its all added up, its wonderful!

That focus is indispensible, thats what I found - its your diary, you can do it! With me, I still have that focus, but because I'll be working from home at the computer for my 2nd job, I need to get the place into a state that feels positive to work from, thats why I'm focussing on getting the house in order. Good luck, keep going!

That sounds quite interesting. Do I have to pay any money out at any point though. I have been avoiding all the matched betting and bingo stuff. If not by all means refer me and I will give it a go.

  • Hurrah for another one with a to-do list!

Another one here trying to cut back further on already tight budgets - but without compromising too much on quality of life. Having been in a position for the past couple of years where we could save a good amount each month, I am hating not being able to do so at the moment, plus there is also things like our annual trip to the Hebrides which we are not prepared to give up on, so new plans have to be made to find the money. I like your idea of making the surveys etc just as much a "job" as any other your other income streams - you're *so* right about that meaning you will take it more seriously that way. I put the clicks etc on my list but sometimes can't be bothered with them as it seems like so much effort for so little gain - I need to refocus on the amount that they *can* earn in a month though, and use that as the kickstart to get back to doing them daily. Thanks for that.

Have you looked at the "No More Toiletries" challenge thread yet? Lots of like minded folk there trying to use up their toiletries before buying more!

Good luck with your little-steps targets for the year - I'm with you on that being the way to actually achieve stuff!

Completing tasks is good! Clicks can be too - I had a lot of pigsback points from clicks when I got to be debt free, and I didn't want to let them go, so I kept on going - I've just ordered a £10 voucher from Waterstone's as a result. I also kept on with toluna points, and I ordered a £15 Amazon voucher from there at the beginning of November - in fact, I just followed up on it today, as its still not here. I won't be carrying on, as I need to get the 2nd career up and running, but clicks were definitely a lifesaver. The amounts you can get are appreciable.

The only things I am carrying on with, actually, are the charity clicks at https://www.thehungersite.com, and my TAB bingo account - a couple of times, I've won well over £100 there, but of course its a daily click with no guarantee of anything ever.

Hope your schedule today has ticks by all the items at the end!
