If we are going to do a roast dinner for the next challenge could we possibly wait till it has got cooler, as its unbearable doing a roast dinner with all the trimmings at the moment. Its still reasonably warm during the days here in Kent.
Bl**dy freezing in Scotland! Nearly time to turn the heating on!
Understand what you're saying though!
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500

Which is exactly why I'm making my own pie. If there are any volunteers out there who would like to marry me and bake, I'd be happy to consider your offer.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I've just got home from the pub, a bit drunk. I have to say that cold chicken and leek pie, straight from the fridge, is awesome. Even yesterday, I didn't realise just how good it is. I'm not sure I have ever made a better thing.

Mr B :hello:
I've just found this thread, and I'm gutted I missed out on your fantastic pie:mad:
I haven't been online much lately and look what happens - I miss your pastry-making debut - all 15 pages of it!!!!!
It looks gorgeous, bet it tasted even nicer after a few :beer: .
I can't wait for the next cooking session and I'm definitely going to be around for it
P.S. Hope you haven't got a hangover this morning0 -

There's one sad thing about cooking - your sense of smell becomes overwhelmed and you definitely DON'T get the best taste of your own cooking, on the day, as this affects your ability to taste
However, it does mean that returning to your leftovers is a great experience!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

Actually, I've been thinking... It seems a crying shame to me. You seem like a really nice bloke: employed, intelligent, articulate, funny, pragmatic, kind to animals etc. etc. No doubt you are also devilishly handsome. Perhaps we should start a campaign to find you a nice girlfriend?
If I was a) younger and b) not already married I'd be the first to volunteer!
Anyway, back to the pie. JM is quite right, when you have spent hours preparing food it doesn't taste as good to you as it does to everyone else, which is why your meals always taste better if someone else has cooked for you, and why everyone should offer to make the tea for their mum now and then!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
