Victoriaplus4 - your situation mirrors mine.

I too was down £120 last week as it is my 16 year old i receive the disability premium for as well . Its a hell of a lot of money to be down unexpectedly . At least you have been told your payments have been recalculated.

Hopefully the missing £120 will be discovered because thats too much to loose !

For everyone , maybe as in Victoria's case , all our payments will be correct on our next payment day.

    The money is not missing.

It's just the way your payments are calculated.

Your award will have been calculated From 6th April - 31st August and the payments averaged out after changes and renewal.

Your award will then be calculated from 1st September - 5th April and the amount, again averaged out.

It may look like it's missing but unfortunately it's the way the system works out your payments. If you look at your new award when it arrives and add up all your payments you will see there is nothing actually missing.
  • i understand what you are saying subs as it allways happens like this when you report a change

unfortunately the money from last week probaly will not be paid as a double this week you will all just probally find an extra couple of pounds each week from now on those that are really strugleing may be able to get a crisis loan if there not working as for me i will be having freezer suprise all week..lol

Evenstar - try this number - 01355 359007 - this number is supposed to be for overseas callers but a lot of people on this board have rung this number to sort out their tax credits and the advisor hasnt made any reference to them not being allowed to use the number.

In saying that.....there have been a few people who have been "told off" by the advisor and told not to use the number again but give it a try . If you are desperate to get through then its worth a shot , you may just get an advisor who doesnt say anything to you .

Try this number as well.......... 0845 300 3904

Victoria - my payments too have returned to (almost) normal today but i also have not received any back payment for last week?

To the poster who says that no payment is "missing" , i find this info incorrect....eg , i was £120 down last week and my new regular payments as of today is £17 LESS than it was before....
  • The poster who said the money is not missing is correct. Tax credits are a yearly award. When you get your new award letter issued you will see a total amount of tax credits you will receive for the 2010 - 2011 tax year. By the end of the tax year you will have received the full amount shown. Tax credits are not guaranteed to be a set amount of every week and when a change of circumstance is made it does re-profile the payments. I know its difficult to understand as you were used to getting x amount per week and then it changes but the main thing is that you are getting your full entitlement to tax credits.
  • Ok so can you maybe help me understand this:

My weekly payments have always been x amount....

Last week my payments were x amount minus £120.

This week my payment is x amount minus £17 .

So , where has the £120 gone from last week ?

It certainly hasnt been added on to the rest of my weekly payments for the rest of the year because if it HAD been then my payments would have went up instead of down!

    Confusing......
