I only posted the way I run MY Challenge as a way of sharing MY experiences with you guys. You may have noticed that I have tried to emphasise they are MY rules & other folk are, of course, entirely free to have their own. I am fortunate that my kids are all grown so there's no demands on my purse other than foodie-wise, & their father lives in another town [:j] so I don't have an OH to muck things up either
Now, you should ask Cheryl for an alternative set of rules. I just wish I could be that organised :embarasse & keep trying which I suppose is the main thing, but have become a lapsed spreadsheet keeper this summerNever fear, for I shall say 5 Formulae as my Penance & have already set out my September headings to begin again....I only posted the way I run MY Challenge as a way of sharing MY experiences with you guys. The main difference is that I include almost everything, including all my utility bills and other regulars out-goings (such as window cleaner). As such I try and do all my other shopping on the days a D/Debit goes out of the bank. I have a couple of longer stretches between D/Debits each month, and I've always had to top up on milk a couple of times between them until now..... but DS (aka the milk monster) was deposited with my parents this morning, so hopefully this will be less of an issue from here on it
As an aside - today is the first day of the rest of my life, in that it's the first time I've ever been a sole occupany household, and also the first day I've not been either a dependant child or had a dependant child of my own (though he's still seen as 'dependant' by the powers who calculate his student loans/grants)
The only exclusions I currently have are :-- anything related to the garden (almost everything bought for that is related to trying to grow my own F&V - I've not bought any non-food plants in...... hmmmm..... let me think...... mmmm....... must be about 28 years, and they were indoor pot plants)
- 'get fit', be that gym or running, including kit, membership fees, entry fees for races (am now entered for 3, with a 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th almost a certainty, and all between next month and next June culminating in a half-marathon on 19th June - and including a 10km race on my birthday in January...... seemed as good a way to 'celebrate' turning 45 as anything :rotfl: ), or equipment to allow me to exercise at home.... the latest being a hula-hoop
)
- hobby related (paper crafting, though the reduction in my spends on that over the last couple of years is stunning - I'm probably spending in a year what I used to spend in 2 months tops when I had my full time job in IT)
- and anything linked to 'social life', be that petrol for days out, take-away, food for cooking, that 'wow factor' dress, or hair cut/colour.
[p.s. Hope your leg improves Cheryl; knew there was a reason I've never quite believed it when 'they' say exercise is good for me]
Have boosted the hot water while I was making tea (rump steak, which was a whoopsied piece from freezer, with oven chips, tomatoes, mushrooms, peas and sweetcorn - figured I had to celebrate my independance in style), and plan to have my first bath/long soak in heaven-only-knows-how-long
And no, I'm NOT dirty :rotfl: I just prefer a shower (especially when it's using the hot water from the gym) or strip wash - and that's before even considering the cost implications of actual water and then heating it

Hi Everyone sorry not to post - I've lost the use of some of the keyboard - just wanted to catch up and say I had another NSD today - takes me to five but I did a very big stock up at the weekend. All the best. Feeling like I need a new computer at the moment - any ideas or offers around - I'd be glad to know about them!0
