My DH had numerous pint of blood and (mainly) plasma during his chemo treatment, so I'm desperate to get back to donating.

Unfortunately things seem to conspire against me, and everytime there's a local session (or I have a free day to go into the city centre) I seem to end up back on my strong pain-killers/anti-inflams - and they won't take it then :(

I absolutely detest needles (always warn them I'll tense up, but refuse the anaesthetic as that's another needle), but have given blood since 'way back when' (having had several years off I'm still a couple of donations off my silver status) much to the stunned amusement of friends and family - but I've always worked on the basis that if I give, then there's more chance there'll be supplies should I or a loved one ever need it.

Declaring today as NSD #5 on the basis I'm going nowhere today.....

and that includes work :o My leg wasn't good yesterday evening, cramped up a couple of times overnight, and was still stiff & sore this morning - to the point I couldn't see me managing an 8 hour shift (plus waks there and back). Kneeling down (which I did whilst trying some light housework in order to stop the muscle siezing completely) was pure agony a couple of hours ago, so probably as well I didn't go in as I have to do this at least hourly to fill shelves.

Work weren't best pleased, but weren't nasty about it which is something - turns out the other lass also phoned in sick this morning, so instead of 4 of us in the bakery there are only 2 (and they're the manager and the trainee baker). I did momentarily consider backing down and going in, but stopped myself from being a total mug as I know it would almost certainly have meant longer off later (and even more pay lost)

I know I should give blood (Not sure how long you are supposed to wait after you have had a transfusion.

Ah Cheryl how lovely of you even though scared of needles you still want to give. It does make you think how lucky you are that people do give blood eh to us when needed.

To the best of my knowledge, the current rules are you've can't give if you've received blood at any time.

My BIL had blood after an road accident (car pulled out of an entry in front of him, his motorbike hit the front wing, and he somersaulted down the road having hurdled the bonnet), and he can't give any more

Hi. Please add me. I am aiming for at least 9 NSD.
I have had 1/9 already this month. Tomorrow is going to be tricky. Kings of Leon are my favourite band and tickets for their UK tour go on sale. Last year, tickets for the O2 cost £38, this time round they have doubled to £68! In the past, I would have moaned and put it on the card, but now I have a Snowball, I realise that I really can't afford it. Will I give in to peer pressure and get one. At the moment, common sense is winning :)
