Hi Buffy,
glad you had some quality sleep.
I do agree wholeheartedly with Shoe Gals thoughts on renting however, if that is not what you want then you will find a way to buy.
I believe you will find life easier if you just focus on clearing the debt for now. This should be accompanied by the pursuit of a driving licence. Not only will this give you a huge sense of personal achievement & liberate your everday life, but it also means that you will have more options when you do come to buy a property.
If owning a property is your next goal, then once debt free it would be useful to do a budget which includes the maximum you are able to save for a deposit.
Set yourself a target date of when you want to buy & then just throw everything you can into that savings pot. You might find that you are extra motivated when you will be the beneficiary rather than your debtor.
Dont allow family to make you feel like crap. In the grand scheme of things, whether someone turned the tv off to sing happy birthday to your mum is not a big deal. It only matters to you so Stop Yourself from being bothered by their ignorance.
As to choccie spread on ryvita - not sure about the ferrero rocher bit , but it sure is yummy :T0 -
Its like I said they aren't going to change and I am better at dealing with it. She doesn't mean to say hurtful things and I am senstive to it. I am always going to find his rudeness hard to take, and just am not comfortable with them hence being in the kitchen !
I have given Mum my brain training game to use. V funny!
I am impatient to drive and be out of debt. its all seeming to take so long! well the driving, the debt is ticking a long ok, Driving lessons are costing me over 200 pounds a month.
I already think I will be better at saving, you know doing all the extra MSE things like e baying and the like that at the moment I don't really do anymore. If the quidco money is towards something for me it will be easier? (which is ridiculous really cos the debt is such a pain and also for/because of me, but somehow that fact doesn't make me very motivated these days, it did at first!)
I get excited about savings(!) but am well, bored isn't the right word but i want to move on to the next thing as far as the debt is concerned. I can't wait to get my pay cheque and put the first 800 in my savings account........
best get on with something

Hi Buffy
I can so relate to the 'being bored' of being in debt. It is hard to muster the motivation to change things especially when you are paying someone else off rather than it directly benefitting you. You are so nearly there - keep on going!
I wanted to give you some advice for when you are debt free. I had been living at home while saving for my flat. I started to budget as though I was living in my own place and started to save what I would be spending on mortgage, council tax, gas, electric, water, insurance etc. This helped me to a) see that I would be able to manage if I got my own place and b) helped the deposit fund grow quite nicely!
Sorry things are even more difficult at work. I hope that becoming debt free might be open some more doors for you.

so I mooched about feeling pants for most of today, staggered to the high street and used my £5 voucher (thank you Daily Mail, they have another offer tomorrw) to buy Mum her Mother's day presnets plus give her the free gift of the body butter. I also went to Sainsbugs. Good Lord it was NUTS. I bought some face cream, my skin is dreadful at the moment huge nasty lumpy spots. So I bought a simple moisturiser as I have a cleanser and toner already. Going to try very hard to keep to a routine each day and evening.
Got a cab home was knackered which just goes to show that i am not remotely fit at the moment! Oh and I tried my jeans this morning..........BAD news they are too small for me.
Any how I cleaned out the fish and the guinea pigs (I know how to have fun on a Saturday night!) I have joined the 11,000 in 2011 and Urg I shall be taking your advice re "pretending" I already have moved out and make a budget from May.......April is already pretty much in I am skint territory!!
I am now so sleepy I shall now be away to bed, i have a magazine I bought, first one this year (and only about the 5 in the last three!!) to read in bed. Maybe with Match of the Day tomorrow.........
pleasant dreams all

sorry to hear that things with your family are still pants. But as you said you can't change them, you can only change how you react to them...
Not sure whether the talk of redundancies at work is a good or bad thing. I mean if you went for redundancy then the money from it would pay off your debt and probably put up your first months rent etc for a place of your own.. It doesn't have to be negative for you, as you want to go anyway. ..
just a thought
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Sorry chev, had to go out to my sister's............
I won't be made redundant unfortunately, its mostly aimed at support staff and a couple of depts who are losing curriculum time and so won't need teachers. We are understaffed and actually it "may" get worse.
I would def take it if offered.
am back from Sister's obviously. The least said about that the better!!!

Can you not get a property on a shared ownership as a key worker Buffy? Okay it's not outright yours but it'd be a step-up and most you can buy a bigger share later. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130
