Not that I could ever suggest this but............... if someone really wanted to hurt this guys wallet they only need to google "EPC" and click on the advertised link (one of the 3 at the top), if somebody did this on different searches and used their IPhone etc I recon it would cost the guy at least £1 per click. Quite a bit if you had friends and family and they also did it.

As I said not that I could ever condone this behavior!

If you do a search on google for epc and you do click on EPC then yes the sponsored ads at the top (3) and the ones on the right hand side do get charged, yes.
If you click in and click out then they would get charged more than once - within reason of course. If you keep clicking - ie 10 times in a minute this wil flag up on googles system and the customer wont be charged for this. It's perfectly reasonable for google to charge for someone clicking into express epc website, then click out and check a competitor price and then click back in ie two clicks from the same customer! Its regarded by google as a new search.
Cost to the company would depend on many factors - its probably around £0.35 - £0.65 at a guess. The better your site is optimised and the more click through's you can get the lower your CPC cost per click will be.
Its certainly possible to hurt this business if someone wanted to but if the company aren't actually paying their employees then they are making pure profit.
for example the site doesnt have a site map and google would punish this - it only wants the better sites to use sponsored listing because it wants everyone to click the sponsored listings to earn them money - if u want to put a poor quality site up there prepare to pay lots of money!0 -
It does look like this EPC scam has being going on for some time, not just the certificates but the people doing the training.
If you read some of the comments it does make you wonder how they have got away with it for so long. There is not even a phone number on Express EPCs website - alarm bells0 -

One of the important things to not is that if you type EPC London, EPC Birmingham, EPC Manchester or EPC Newcastle....this criminal outfit comes up.
Come on BBC Watchdog...this is a bigger story than thin bags at a supermarket or a dodgy refuse collector in South Wales..this is a national problem.0 -
Just to let you know I have now received a full refund from Express EPC. I had to send them a recorded delivery letter requesting my refund due to not compiling with the distance selling regulations 2000. I then emailed them a week later stating they received the letter last week (and pasted the recorded del signature from the Royal mail website) and reiterated that they were required to refund the money in full. They emailed back to say they would refund £19.95 rather than the full £39.95 but I disputed this and informed them if they didn't refund me in full then they would receive a £200 fixed penalty charge from Trading standards if they did not refund my money. I am pleased to say that I have now been fully refunded.
If anyone is still having issues with them, stick with it and hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel, Good luck.0 -
Thats Fantastic Ally and one in the eye for Mr Whatcott. Its a shame that Express-EPC have to be threatened before they show any semblance of being professional. Where did you send the recorded delivery letter to? I tried that but it came back as not known at this address.0

I had a quote from Express EPCs to get a cert done for my property, but after reading through all the bad things said about this company, I have used a local company called smarter energy EPCs who I contacted last week. They did it for £40 in total and I had my certificate on the same day. I believe they cover SW london areas only, but certainly a trustworthy company and someone i would recommend0

Be aware that these companies DO NOT issue EPCs.These companies take your money upfront and do NOT deliver your EPC.There are many irate customers trying to get their money back. Also many DEAs throughout the country are taking out CCJs against them for non payment of their invoices.
Best advise is to talk to your local Domestic Energy Assessor (see DEA Local.co.uk) and agree a fee to be paid only when the EPCertificate is delivered.0
