I used the site Richard Webster mentioned and got one for £35 (there were also a couple more offering them at that price). The guy was great and was cheap since it was just him on his own - often the one man bands are cheaper than these big online companies2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

I googled EPC and up came express-epc.co.uk right at the top of the listings. They claim to offer EPC's for £29.95 but in reality its a lot more.
Must be against googles advertising policies surely.
Anyone like to comment?
Am I likely to be out of pocket - its alot of money for me.
I just google epc and express-epc came up too, they issued me with an epc through email and it was a rather rude message from someone asking to be left alone and be removed from the system. the epc has been paid for but no one has been around, confused!!!0 -
I have recently used Express EPC and paid £39.95 but I have yet to hear from the company in over a week! They have basically taken my money and emailed me a 'marketing certificate' to say my EPC has been ordered. After reading on the consumer action group and on here that they are corrupt, I'm now starting to think I won't see my money and I don't know what to do.
My house is on the market so I need an EPC in the next couple of weeks but I don't know whether to wait and see if they come back to me or to go elsewhere and pay again!?
Can anyone help??

Feel sorry for you. This should be a warning to everyone: DONT USE www.express-epc.co.uk0

Some people just cant see the danger signs...Even if you post Express-EPC , Whatcott, Hip-Save, Hipserve, DEA forum all in one post ,potential customers wouldnt be able to spot a rogue trader0

Stick to local independents - they can compete on price due to their locality to you and low overheads. Why bother with these web firms who couldn't possibly make money if they did what they claim!
Lots of people trained as energy inspectors when HIPs were introduced, so there are plenty of professionals out there now offering EPCs at reasonable rates.
Use a website like trustedlocal.com (personally involved, my recommendation) or localsurveyorsdirect or just look in your local yellow pages....0 -
I also bought an epc from express-epc and they took my money upfront and never gave me the certificate. on their website they have testimonials of people praising, ALL A SCAM. The phone number on the website is just a recorded message.
i have emailed them so many times but they do not reply.
i have reported them to watchdog and trading standards but these guys do not care.
thay are now offering epc's for £29.95, cheap yes, but all a scam. you may as well bin your money .
DO NOT USE EXPRESS-EPC UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE CONNED BY THEM.0 -
I spotted this post on google but I'm a frequent user of MSE anyway so thought I would post.
I just wanted to all the other voices on here warning against using Express EPC website www.express-epc.co.uk. I am a landlord but know rather alot of other landlords in the West London area. We meet regularly to discuss ideas and we also have formed a sort of buying group. ie we use the same plumbers and electricians as we can negotiate larger discouns etc etc.
Anyway, what I wanted to say is avoid them at all costs. If anyone wants to know my experience of them you are welcome to email me. Its only £40 for the service but if you dont actually get any contact from the engineer whats the point in paying anything at all. The way I understand it is they use engineers, ie subcontract the work out. It seems the engineers dont actually get paid and the directors form new companies every few weeks. I have also read that they are dodging tax as turnover is presumably alot greater than £60 odd grand.
I would also like to hear other views on this subject.
I would also like to link to another forum:

I just had a look at the link and it seems they are ripping off DEA's as well. these are the people with whom they sub- contract.
I think we need to inform the inland revenue also, they will shut them down.
they are conning a lot of people and getting away with it. if we dont report these people will carry on conning.0
