Well done on the sig creation, it certainly helps when you know everyone else can see how you are doing!

As it's second time round for you, you will be a dab hand at this now ;)

  • You'd think as I've already done it once that it wouldn't be happening again!!!

Think we are getting sorted though. Have paid bmi card this month, have just paid this month's tesco visa so now we can concentrate on saving to pay the santander card.

Didn't manage to avoid going overdrawn, but kept it to a couple of days. Think A & L charge 50p a day.

Will have a look at your diary this weekend, have got a few others to read but I've got a nice quiet weekend lined up. :)

Well done on clearing the BMI card, your total is dropping quickly already x

  • We had a few stressful days, being really on top of all our finances has taken time but it has been time well spent. We are getting sorted and the total is dropping quickly. It shows what can be done with a bit of focus. Hopefully we'll actually be saving properly soon! There's even talk of a skiing holiday in February. We didn't go last year because we were worried about redundancy. I've only missed two years skiing in the last 11 years, though some years I went twice and one year three times. I don't like missing though!

Tesco card is paid this month and total for next month (joint spending) is around £400, so we're actually under budget at the moment. Another week to go though. It's mainly food and petrol and petrol has been more than usual because of a couple of long journeys that are not typical. If we can come in under budget, we can save the money to pay the santander card quicker - obviously!

It would be tempting to pay it off early (once money is saved) to get it out of the way, but there's no point having paid a balance transfer fee for 0% then not making the most of it.

I'll have to update the signature again as it's all progress!

Less hectic weekend coming up, early night tonight, will have a read of the diaries I've been meaning to catch up on.
  • Signature updated, have reduced debt by £3,467,97 since starting in August but we did have a little of that put aside for payments already.

    £5,367.12 to go

Tesco card for next month is currently £954.36 of which £450 is individual spending that we have both paid towards. I've spent £63.66 on books for school, £59 to stay in the Holiday Inn last weekend, £10 to have my hair cut (trainees - what a bargain) and a few other odds and ends which has mounted up to £230 so far this month. Does £230 personal spending a month seem too excessive?

Joint spending is around £400, so we are on track with that. However, £954.36 has been transferred into a different account so the money to pay Tesco is put aside ready.

I've been really good at staying in the black in my current account for quite a while now, however, I don't ever have anything left to save once all the bills and any monthly spending has gone out. I need some new clothes but can't really afford them - and I hate shopping (unless it is for a holiday!)

Hopefully, when all the debts are paid we can review what I pay to the joint account and I will have a bit more spending money.

Going to have that earlyish night now.

Well done on your big reduction :T

I feel your pain with clothes shopping, I just really don't enjoy it which probably helps whilst I am trying to debt bust but I could really do with some new trousers and underwear. Good job OH has no problem with grey knickers :rotfl:.

£230 is quite a bit if you don't mind me saying :o but is that a 'normal' amount or just due to one off things? I can't really tell you how much I spend on 'personal' items as I just have a misc section on my spending diary which normally is snacks at work, fish bits etc. Probably averages about £130-£150 a month at the most. I do have presents in a seperate column though!

Hope you enjoyed your earlyish night :)
