Hi Woowoo, I don't know where the last few days have gone, I think lost in debt management, lots of school work and a bit of sleep! I'm exhausted, the summer holiday feels like ages ago. I've been trying to keep on top of everything and haven't had a chance to check the forums.
Well, we couldn't avoid going overdrawn this month. We decided that it would be better to take that hit than pay interest on the credit card as that would affect next month's balance and probably go on forever. Absurd & Ludicrous charge 50p per day for being overdrawn (unless they've sneakily changed their t & c) so we thought that would be cheaper.
So, the bmi credit card is paid off, all £4741.18 of it - woohoo!
We've managed a bit more damage limitation in that we've borrowed the money to pay this month's tesco visa to put us back in credit and will hold off paying that this month until the very last minute as my salary should clear by 25th Sep, tesco visa needs to be paid by 29th Sep, should be ok? Balance on tesco visa this month is £1671.77 we should be able to pay that when I'm paid. The scary thing is, this was meant to be us economising! When we look at the £1671.77 it's mainly food shopping, petrol and then some personal spending each eg dentist, eye appointments, lunch with friends etc. We also bought some tickets for father in law to travel to visit at Christmas. Still surprised that we've spent so much this month, here's hoping next month will be less expensive. Think we might need to start spending diaries!
The batch cooking has been going well, life is so much easier when I can get home in the evening and grab something out of the freezer or OH can take something to work.
So now total debt (owed to financial institutions who charge lots of interest) is £2612.76. This is on the Scamtander card which needs to be paid by Dec, we have absolutely no reserves now though so need to cut back and save like crazy!
We owe £1800 to the bank of us (this was savings for maintenance of my old house that we rent out), fingers crossed the house is blessed and no emergency repairs are needed.
Will write more later, was away last night and need to do some work and catch up on some other diaries now!0 -
Forgot some hot news....
Cheque from British Gas for £181.19 received
and..... drum roll......
£25 compensation from Absurd & Ludicrous. £25 much appreciated but have lost faith in them completely, first direct account all set up but we can't really get going with it yet, too confusing to juggle money in different accounts and A & L won't give first direct the information they need to switch the DDs, apparently they have asked a few times!0 -
Yay rum punch well done for clearing the card an more well done for the British gas refund :-) lovely to see you again xx I'm on way to my parents free food xxI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. Hi RP!
I had to come and have a peek, your user name reminds me of ron punch (which IS rum punch) that I drunk far too much of in Cuba last year....yep another holiday addict checking in to the group
. If I hadn't gone to Cuba last summer and Egypt this March then I am sure I would be much further along on my DFW journey.
Well done on your LBM, it sounds like you have all the plans in place to bust the debt, and we will all be here for support along the way :T.
Excellent news on the BG refund, we always end up owing money when it comes to the end of the year even though OH only lets me have the heating on a handful of times a year :rotfl:. I blame his PC addiction!
Anyways, I have subscribed so will check back soon, best of luck 'till then.

Hello Jody, thank's for dropping in and encouraging. Don't know how much you've trawled through but this is my second time of debt busting, hopefully caught in in time this time.
I think holidays have a lot to answer for, there seem to be a few holiday addicts with debt to bust! I don't regret the holidays though. Good luck on your journey, I'll have a look for your diary and have a read (I'm very nosy!)
When we're all debt free we'll have to start a travel forum!0
