Annie,
it's not your fault he's a £$%^@@!! You shouldn't be crying, you've nothing to be ashamed of. So some !!!!!! had a look at your house. So what?
I know it feels bad just now. None of us can say how we'd react if it hasn't happned to us, but I bet a lot of us would have been so shocked, exactly the same thing would have happened.
This will be OVER WITH in a couple of weeks. Hang in there.

We had the pleasure of bailiffs a few years ago. Was only myself and our two week old son at home at the time. Fortunately dh had just got paid so we paid by card not knowing how we'd survive the rest of the month. While I was on the phone they were listing everything we had and our little one was crying.
My husband rang after saying did I want him to come home or his sister to come round and be with me, but i jut wanted to be on my own and cry. It feels like such a violation when they go round looking at your stuff (and I was getting card number off dh to pay in full there and then!)
I didn't cry until they left. That was the one point I made. We will NEVER get in that situation again (will never taken council tax off direct debit now) even though at the time it was due to not a single penny of maternity pay for 4 months. It seem very easy to ignore counail tax letters for some reason and they're one of the worst to ignore.
Its also very easy to give advice on letting them in the door, etc but very hard when you're on your own. They are so initimidating (two in my case) and know exactly what they're doing. Makes me feel sick to think of it even today
If it help at all this really helped towards our lightbulb moment. Gives me that little push when i need it when times are hard. Our debt may not be going down as fast as others but this is the first year in a fair few where the debt hasn't increased so any lowerig is a good thing and we will get there. And a bailiff will never darken my door again
Make yourself a nice cup of tea, take a few deep breaths and remind yourself you are better than them and you will do this

It just gets worse and worse(or is it just me?) just had a phone call from the bailiff who said he'd forgotten(??????) to tell me that I can make the second part of the payment directly to the office. I asked him why I wasn't let make both as i'd attempted to do . He said that it wasn't company policy to let you debtors do that. I asked him Why didn't you tell me this when you visited eariler ? to which i got the answer it just slipped my mind. I feel as though i'm being stalked. All this for £700(well actully £350 as have given him the cash today) I'm SO freaked by all of this I cant stop crying and (& this is MEGA pathetic-sorry) have locked all my doors , closed my curtains and am sat in my tatty, chepo living room shaking. Some neighbours are having work done and this involved vans and loud noises which is making me tremble. I have to be togther by time DH gets in from school as he isn't having too good a time and is not too well so i've got to get over myself but i'm in pieces. Sorry. I'm SO grateful i'v got you. Thank you. Annie XXXBlind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.

More hugs.
This means no one else round your house.
This is good, the way he told you is shocking, but the news is good.
And.. it's ok to be a bit messy when DH comes back. Sometimes it's just as scary being married to superwoman! Be human.

You need to get someone, eg solicitor, on this case. That guy is so out of order:mad:

Annie.. Just read the rest of the thread.. What a PIG, I know it doesnt seem like the right time, but you need to express yourself to the council and let them know how they make people feel.. This is totally out of order,
Now I know why you would be rather at a motorway travelinn !
Make sure you have a nice bottle of wine in and we will crack it open later on.
