If this is a council tax debt (I have had a few myself) then, normally, you have the right to make payment at the 'bailiff's office'. In my case, the bailiffs have an office actually attached to the council offices and I paid there, rather than have them knocking at my door. I do, however, appreciate that it may well be different where you are. Perhaps you could ring the court, or bailiff's office (not mobile) to see if this is possible. Your bailiff has already played the 'hard done by' card, he is unklikely to offer you advice that may affect his personal commission earnings.

Well it's now past 12 noon at still no sign of "my mate". Gate still locked been in garden weeding(a first for me) so I KNOW ive not missed him. At 10:30 I called the mobile number and spoke to him to see where he was and when I could have the pleasure(!) of welcoming him only to be told "you know how busy I am"!!!!! So I wait and wait and wait and wait..............

Don't keep ringing HIM on a mobile - it is expensive and you have made yourself available at the pre-arranged time.
Stop feeling sorry for him - please.

As for the tea-well somehow I dont think he would have the time!!!

Give him the tea - but don't forget to charge him for it - and I'm sure that the service charges for doing tea at that time in the morning must come toooo.....welllllll....at least as much as the nasty charges they're trying to levy at you :p :rotfl:

  • Arrrggghhhh. It makes me think of that terribly well spoken one on the bailiff program that managed to be so apologetic that he managed to convince them he was doing them a favour by knocking the cost of the visit off of the bill (100) quid, when actually he was conning them for an extra 100 quid or so.
