Have you tried www.ravelry.com ?? it is an AMAZING resource for knitters, with a huge number of patterns in their database, and in the search you can specify free patterns, knitting or crochet, what kind of wool - you can usually find something to suit there!
I should have added - chunky equals bulky in american (as the site is american), and if you see a pattern you fancy, and would like to see it in other yarns then click on projects and if other people have knitted it then they may have posted their photos as well.
Another thought - you can also search for the yarn you have bought, and then look at what other people have made using it, and see what it looks like knitted up, which can be really helpful!0 -

I have made one of my grandson, age 3, a gruffalo outfit and I have bought the book to go with it. They live in America and its not a book that is as well known there but he watched it for the first time this week so I'm sure the outfit will go down well. Can't wait to see him on web cam on christmas day wearing his gruffalo. I have also made some crayon rolls. All of my grandchildren will be getting a hand appliqued fleece blanket, rockets and space, 2 flower ones for the girls, 2 x hungry caterpillar and 1 that is a road scene with cars and trucks on it. They are made from fleece fabric and the applique is fleece also then I blanket stitched the edges using wool. My sons/in law are getting fleece also 1 superman logo, 1 batman logo and 1 all game logo eg x box, play station and the best bit of this one is a pacman game with ghosts on the blanket. My daughters/in law are all getting flower ones with chocolate brown/lime green/cream flowers stitched on. I have made tons of other stuff as well but these are the main presents

love the calendar coasters............why do I always think everyone elses stuff always look better then mine?
esmer - were you asking what the kitchen organisers were made from ?
I made mine using an old cork backed place mat that had seen better days...........size was perfect and was a good way of re-cycling them instead of chucking them out.
Love your place settings:T
Done nothing crafty today..............just wrapping and more wrapping....................lol:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I made some chocolate slabs in shapes of christmas trees and ginger bread men, I never tempered my chocolate right and its melting on contact. Looks lovely all wrapped up......... I waited from 29th Nov until the other day for the delivery of my thermometer only for it to be broken in two
I also packaged my cookies in a tin. Just the poem to print off.
My little boxes I put in roses, I got 4 in each box. so 8 little boxes filled with chocolates out of one box of roses. ITs only for a wee gesture for my work colleagues rather than a card.Saving 2.00 coinsGrocerys set to 40.00 pwBeing Thrifty0 -

My scarf is finally done! It had been on the verge of being finished but I ran out of wool and thanks to the snow the new ball has taken 2 weeks to arrive!
It's 60 inches long and a bit rough around the edges but for my first knitting attempt ever I'm pretty proud! Here it is in all it's glory:
Draped over the top of my door (this is only one half and excuse the wonkiness, I think it's the way it's hanging (ooh er!))
Zoomed in on the tassels etc.
Oh and me trying it on for size...
Still not sure that my mum will actually wear it because it's a little bit bulky but I'm sure she'll appreciate it none the less. I've left the tassels long so she can modify if she wants!
And these are my sock monkeys for my housemates as part of their pressies:
And this is one of them holding their presents!0
