Hello to all the new peeps :j

    Mary-op - did you find a label?

hollyandmatt - I got my bathbomb ingredients from justasoap, but it can be expensive in the delivery.

bobsa1 - im going to use lakeland piping bags for my cones, because this is what I have in the house. Ebay sell the cones, just search or Cellophane cones.

kategregory - That xmas tree shortbread tower is brilliant.

I made a victoria sponge tonight and for some reason it didnt rise, it was like two flat pancakes........... So Broke them all up, and made cake pops, wish I had not bothered though, Im just sitting down, I should have just made cupcakes......... would have sat down 2 hrs ago.

I plan to do a lot more tomorrow night, finish my pots of gold, (now where did i put those scratch cards) and do all my snowman soups, make more bathbombs cupcakes and do my bath salts. I feel i have to get something finished!

PS Anyone else finding the site SLOW?

Also been inspired to do a mini yorkshire hamper for FIL but don't know what I could make that is straightforward and is typically yorkshire?

    Any ideas?

    Hi and welcome Bobsa,

I made a Yorkshire hamper for my sister and brother in law for Christmas last year. I filled it with lots of Yorkshire food goodies like local beers, cakes, jams and tea bags as well as a Yorkshire to English dictionary

    Cookies in a Jar poem

I made a plate of cookies
to share with you this year
I thought it was a good way
    to spread some Christmas cheer

    They all looked really tasty,
so I thought I'd try just one
    And a little while later,
I noticed they were all gone.

    So here's my cookie tin,
And a spoon for mixing too,
Now you can make your own,
    And maybe share a few.

  • This thread is great - a handmade Christmas is something I've always wanted to do but never managed to go as far as I would have liked. I wish I'd seen this earlier but never mind, I can still do a bit & I'm getting great ideas for 2011!
  • Thanks Diddly74 and Elsmer for your comments on my tree's
I ordered my cutters from ebay on Sunday and got them today!
Was really excited and had to try them out....

I will be doing another load of these as my future sister in law has told me she wants some as well as the pepper jam!
But this time I will use white and green icing with silver balls I think..!

Good luck Diddly74 on making yours my children will know doubt be helping me next time as they were very impressed with these ones :)

    Hi all...........:j
I'm after a label to add to my brownie mix jars. I've seen some around but theyre a bit colourful and I really want mine to look fairly 'rustic' if you know what I mean. Any ideas ?

Started doing the last two this morning but we hadnt got enough drinking chocolate (our lad drinks it so it goes pretty rapid........lol) Its only £1 from the cheapie shop in town so I'll pick some more up this afternoon -along with paper to transform remaining two old battered looking placemats into kitchen organisers. Couple of friends I always get a little something for and theyll be easy to post.

    Hi Mary

I did some labels last year for things and wanted them to look rustic so I bought a pack of those brownish coloured labels they sell in Smiths for luggage etc, they have normal string on them to tie up. You could either just write on them or print out something and stick it on. Rufus xx
  • I made some progress last night, as I cut out 7 of the 10 stockings I need to sew. I am nearly all set for a few nights of sewing now (lots of things cut and ready, so I will just set up the machine once and get everything done!).

rufus - I did think about luggage labels then went through my odd bits of card and found some brown/beige colour that I thought would do.
Got a 'primitive' snowman image and printed that off so thats on one side of the label and the instructions on how to make the brownies I printed out and stuck on the otherleaving a bit of a border round the edge that I sort of ''frayed'' They look quite good.......even OH says so.............lol:)

esmer - you'll see from above I got label sorted:)

OH forgot to get pva glue today so couldn't make a start on the last two kitchen organisers - so it'll be tomorrow (I think..........meeting my friend for lunch so depends what time I get back)
Our lad was about to chuck out empty tea box  Managed to rescue that - just have to cover it ..............lol:rotfl:No box is safe in our house at the minute. Not sure what would fit in it but I'll find something..............lol:rotfl:

Well preserved - I've resolved now not to do anymore other than what I've planned.........any new ideas I find now will be on next years list.
I'm in 'panic mode' as it is................lol:rotfl:

Good Deed Chart and letter from Santa is being posted tomorrow for Grandson then need to get sons presents wrapped plus his girlfriends birthday and christmas boxes so I can get them posted at the beginning of next week. I know its a bit early but I want to make sure they get there ok.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • Thank you for this thread, it's given me loads of ideas! :) I'm at uni and can't afford to go out that much or buy expensive presents so these all seem like great ideas that can fill up some of my spare time (my weekends are so boring) and make really fun, inexpensive presents for people!

I've started making my mum a scarf, I decided I wanted to have a go at knitting for the first time yesterday so had a little practice and then off I went, it's going well so far but I'm a bit worried that the colour is a bit horrible :-/ She has a light green coat so it's to go with that and I'm going to put some tassles on at the end. This is it so far:

Even if she doesn't like it, she can keep it as my first ever finished knitting project! Or I can make her a different one once my skills are a bit more advanced!

I'm going to try and make a sock monkey to go with my dad's present and I'm going to make mini hampers for my uni flatmates :) Just need to think about what to put in them!

I'm not going fully handmade like some of you but I'd like to have more of a personal touch to my presents!
