I'm c**p at anything in the kitchen and my sewing skills are very limited (something to do with age I think).............lol:rotfl:The fingers aren't what they were.

Been making coaster calendars all afternoon.......did them last year .......and started to toss and turn in my sleep now thinking of the things still to do......
Oh well, whats not done this year will be on the list for next year...............lol

    What are coaster Calendars?

I have just added Coaster and calendars to my hamper list, but as separate items.....

I do mine with beer mats OH got from our local (very mse apart from the pints of beer.............lol)
Cover the coaster/beer mat with pretty paper, stick on small calendar and decorate with flowers or buttons, ribbon -whatever you like and either stick magnetic tape on the back for the fridge or small bull dogs clips so they hang on the wall.

Someones done some but can't remember who -there should be some photos either on this thread or crafting for christmas or maybe it was flyingpigs thread. hth:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • hey everyone - I am completley inspired by you all - although I have a few questions..
*where is the best and cheapest place to buy wax from?
*How long will the toffee/humbug vodka last in the fridge (by which I mean how long before christmas can I make it)
*and were can I buy edible glitter that will sparkle in vodka/gin (iam thinking of making an alcoholic snowglobe!)

jemima - the vodka's will keep for a LONG time (you don't need to refridgerate them!) even with sweets in them. So long as you don't put things like cream in then the vodka will keep until you finish drinking it... :)

As for edible glitter - hobbycraft, cakesupply shops, ebay... :)

esmer - well done with the budget :T
I'm, trying to do the same and making what I can from what I've got kicking around or free samples.
I'll have to stretch it with grandkids this year as it's they're birthday and they're 18 so it'll be a 'party in a bag' and silver chain for the boy, necklace for the girl. Still needn't come to a lot though.......Our charity shop has some brilliant jewellry in at good prices.

Todays effort (such as it was) has been a jar of ''sock jam''............pair of plum colour socks rolled up in a jar, printed off a label and topped it off with a gingham 'hat'.............oh and covered another gravy tub with snowman paper ready for the next DIY snowman...........just need marshmallows for that (remind OH tomorrow)

  • have you ever tried the sweetcorn relish from marks & spencers Ginger?

this recipe is very easy, and even more delish than theirs
but you would need to be making this, or any other chutney etc just now so they have matured
i make this all year round
its great with meats & cheese
but even on a jacket potato or ontop of a salad
