Hi everyone, I have been following this link for a couple of weeks now and am so inspired by you all and the lovely things that you are making. I am trying to do a lot of homemade presents this year and have taught myself basic knitting so have made a scarf for my boyfriends mum and am making a baby blanket for my boyfriends neice/nephew who is due in December. I am also hoping to make the pompom scarf for my sister.
Id like to give the toffee vodka a go but can i ask what kind of vodka do you use? if i used the cheapest own brand would it work or would it taste nasty?
Thanks
the beauty of this is you can use whatever you have
any will do
i dont drink at all but i would find it a waste to use very expensive vodka
i find the longer you leave it the better it is
so you could make it now
i leave mine in the freezer for a week
vodka doesnt freeze but it makes the toffee a kinda syrupy consistancy
i have a bottle there done last year, and its still nice and thick0 -
i too shall have a go at the clusters tomorrow:j
thank you, they sound yummy0 -
just thought, do you temper the chocolate??0

do i what the chocolate? erm... i chuck in a bowl over a pan of water on the hob and stir until its melted!! my other post sounded quite knowledgable then!! really, i'm not, i burn most things. the only reason i'm good with chocolate is because spoiled chocolate is such a waste!!word of warning though, they are SO more-ish (did i spell that right?) that you'll get hooked!!! clearly there's a lot i can learn from you midnightraven!!!
sorry for being a bit useless!! enjoy them though!!0 -

i did minty ones by crushing mint imperials - can't cope with flavourings!! if anyone can help me with adding flavourings to chocolate without it going lumpy, i'd be forever grateful!!0 -
its what you use that makes it go lumpy
if you use an oil it wont
so flavouring chocolate is easy
you make an infused oil and add that
if you want to add say rum, you add whatever you are using (cornflakes etc) and THEN add it
alcohol will cause it to seize up if you add it to the chocolate directly0 -
