Can you put me down for £50 in October please!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
miss empty piggy well done you are well under budget :T
i have just cooked the diced casserole beef i bought from l!dl , so far so good its nice and tender , ive done it as a beef and veg stew and its delish THIS is the recipe i used :j
Oh my.......that does look good  - it's making my belly rumble, lol.
I worry about using 2 hours of electric on a casserole/stew (don't have a slow cooker) but I have had such a craving for one this last week or so.......maybe I should just hang the expense on the leccy. I suppose if I only did it once a month it wouldn't have too much of an impact on my bill.

Very well done to everyone so far! I just want to say that I am so pleased I joined this grocery challenge, it has really helped me focus. Next month will be the first one without my salary (I'm taking time out to be a SAHM) and I'm starting to feel confident that, with the help of this board, we will make it. Even when I work again in the future I can't believe I'd ever go back to my spendthrift ways.
Anyway, I now have just £6.22 until Friday and will need to get milk and fruit in that but think I should manage it. I've ordered a sugar thermometer to start making yummy sweeties, so I anticipate a splurge on baking products when I get my hands on October's budget! Also thinking of making orange cordial - does anyone know a cheap source of citric acid please?Must get organised and rejoin grocery challenge!0 -
Hi everyone,
I would like to declare at £176.22, thats £1.22 over budget, but really proud that so far I have had 20 NSD's, got to do a little shopping tomorrow, and then thats it until October. The bit of shopping I have to do is just milk, fruit and yogurts and I have a £5 Mr M voucher to be used for that.
Going to try the same format for next month, I think menu planning is definitely the key, I do a whole months plan, and then if I don't fancy something, then I can swap it for something else.
Mrs M can you put me down for £175 for October please. See everyone on the October thread xx2025 G/C Jan £264.82, Feb £249.68. Mar £372.66. Apr. £326.19. May £321.01. June £296.18 July £373.26. August £228.70. Nectar - Morrison’s - £ £ Boots - £3.63 Asda Rewards - £ Tesco - £0 -
I have gone over but am not too worried as the eldest son has done some fantastic dishes for GCSE food and youngest son goes to France today so needed a large packed lunch!
Please can you put me down for £350 for October as I know I can do it!0 -
Well spent 19.37 in Mr t yesterday and will not be spending any more in Sept. Bought the Daisy washing powder tablets to try out. Many thanks foro all the tips here!
Got 2 Hovis loafs as it was 2 for £1.50 so they are in my freezer now. So hoping so keep the budget low.
My lovely fiance is moving in with me mid month. Normally feed him at weekends but now during the week too so not sure what my new budget will be in the future. Still have reasonably stocked freezer so hoping for £100 in October.MFW 91 op 2014 £410/1000

£3.41 spent in Lidl today.
I went over to see my dad and stepmum as they got back from their holiday last night and had some presents for meThey got me a lovely glass paperweight with the message 'no dream is ever too big' in/on it
They also got me a stamp for biscuits which says 'homemade', a funky rubber duck and a bright pink chopping board with knife
:D I love everything and funnily enough was looking at chopping boards last weekend, so i'm glad I didn't get one now!
My dad mentioned that someone had said Lidl's rice was really nice, so we popped over as both needed some and got a few other bits. I got rice, yogurts, baked beans and (more) crisps. I have crisp issuesI rarely eat beans, but couldn't resist the offer and they're always handy to have in the cupboard...right?!
I paid for a few bits my dad got too, but they won't be counted in my total.
I shouldn't need much else this month luckily. I do need to stock up on frozen veg at some point, but will have to wait until I have some freezer space!
Right, enough rambling for now. I took some ratatouille I made out of the freezer for dinner tonight so am going to do some pasta to go with it.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100
