Hi,
actually managed to stay inside budget:jthis is the second time only!!!! Managed to to stock up on quite a few standby type things and cleaning stuff (which always helps). Managed to cook quite a few bits for freezer.............and meal plan. The meal planning I think was the missing piece, I have even managed it for 2 weeks at a time.
Sept total came in at 239.78(thats 61.22 inside budget):j:j:j:j:beer:
October can I have £300.00 again please.
Am going for the 300 again in October as I did in September and hope I do aswell.

Budget has been blown this month
.
Mrs M ~ please could you put me down for £250 for October? Hopefully we'll stick to it next month as we have one less mouth chomping down the food (DS1 off to Uni)Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £161.29 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
only five more days to go till the end of the month and i'm really pleased with my totals. I have stayed away from the shops as much as possible in the hope of making a bit of a dent in my freezer stocks, its working as well as i can actually open the top drawer without it getting stuck.0

I went and did my big shop today. Now officially over budget, am up to more than £100 quid! That is more than I've spent in a month since starting this challenge, how the hell did that happen?! I know where about a tenner has gone, stupid unnecessary offer chocolate and I'm sure I could have lived with only one big bag of pasta instead of 2, but still that is not good. Must Do Better!0

currently £22 over, so damage limitation time.
i really fancied an indian takeaway friday, so bought the ingredients and made a lush curry, ingredients needed cost £14 but we have eaten 2 curry meals and another 3 in the freezer so £1.40 a portion is better than takeaway prices.
i know where i have gone wrong this month.... 14 meals out! life goes on and when invited i go! need to limit it a bit though. I include it in the grocery challenge so the real cost of my food shows up, if i just used the costs of food prepared at home i'ld go out all the time to 'stay on budget':rotfl:.
good luck to all

This month we did one big on line shop and then topped up on fruit stuff, not saved as much as thought, but did impulse buy alot in last week. We have come in £17 under budget and saved £15 on delivery charges, so this month were doing the same. Only we have a £12 of total spend voucher.
For September Im declaring £283.34.Mum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
Good morning everyone,
beautiful autumnal day here. Have washing on the clothes lines and lamb stew in slow cooker cooling ready to be portioned. Just prepared it and threw it in cooking overnight and it smells divine. Will have some for dinner today and the rest will be frozen. So have gone "all domestic goddess". I am tidying out some shelves and plan to bake later. My fridge is nearly empty so I plan to wash it out today before I buy more fresh produce. It has taken a while to train my brain re fridge contents. I used to believe empty space in fridge = no food in house. However now I believe bulging fridge usually = food waste as I never get through it all and there is always something forgotten about and only found when it has morphed into some unrecognisable, unedible material.
Hope you all have a fruitful and frugal day.It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -
I am over by 63 pence. Not trying hard enough obviously! Hopefully I don't spend anything else until the first now.Grocery Challenge £114.22/ £1100

Hi all, not been on for ages. Just had a read through and people are doing so well. A common theme that is coming through is that even if over budget people are realising that they're spending far less then previously (when we didn't think about what we were spending). I couldnt' agree more with this. When with my ex he constantly complained about the food and I would spend over £400 on our grocery budget; now that he has gone and there are just DD1&2 and myself the budget is much lower. We still eat well (proper meat and veg etc) and I don't think he ate THAT much more. I guess what I am saying is that, it really has done me good to shop and eat smarter than in the past. Saved me lots of money anyway without compromising the standard of food we eat, or our health.
Shopping budget so far: £150.64/£200 I think I'll set the budget for £150.00 next month just to see if I can make it!!
Well done everyone. x0
