Tesco misprice discussion area part 10

  • I visited my local store today and checked out which CS person was on the desk.... phew I thought, I haven't been to her before, so proceeded on checking out prices. I found some British rump steak (will post on misprices in a min), and grabbed 4 packs - sel was £7.48 and pack was £8.98, some were stickered and priced as per the sel, but about 8 packs weren't.... so guess which ones landed in my trolley? Trouble is, by the time I went through the till, deposited the rest of my shopping in the car then returned to the CS desk, another lady had joined and was the one I've been too before with some different steak last week. Didn't know how to play it... so was honest, and said "would you believe that I'm buying some more steak and I've been overcharged AGAIN", she smiled, checked the shelves and gave me my refund. I said "see you next week then", and she said "maybe you should work for Tesco and spot the mistakes for us", I said, why would I want to do that, and miss out on all this free stuff?:rotfl:

That's exactly what he intended to do and you fell for it - sorry. :( They use intimidation in an effort to get the customer to back down. He got exactly what he wanted. You got the refund and walked out without the Xbox. Ring HO and see what they say. Try to get put through to Kevin Kelly or Joanne Leith. Tell them how the manager insinuated that you had only come in to get a free xbox.

The amazing thing is he's had the email warning about what's going to happen and STILL leaves the sign up and visible? Seriously, I'm assuming to become a Tesco manager, you maybe don't have to pass an aptitude test?

Perhaps you have to fail one, really badly ;)

I sent an email about the phone debarcle. Store had offered £20 difference. Email came back yesterday stating it definately wasn't an overcharge, store was right.

Funny how when I spoke to them on Friday (HO) they agreed and made the store refund

It is a definite overcharge due to the store displaying an offer which fails to work. The expiry date is neither here nor there, as the store should remove all out of date POS. All POS must be clear and unambiguous. What makes the case even stronger is the fact that many Tesco stores are now in the habit of leaving up POS with expiry dates that have already passed due to the offers being extended. Based on this, it is reasonable to assume that if any POS is up with an expiry date that has passed, the offer has been extended. If a discount doesn't kick in, you have been overcharged.

So is this the £20.00 off when bought with airtime phone. Did you get a refund already on friday or did they say you were entitled to one and have no refused.

    Thanks
  • I have been refused by HO as the poster was out of date

Don't accept that. Ring back and tell them what I have just written in my previous reply. If they still won't budge, take it to Trading Standards, as it is an offence to display misleading price indications.
