Yaris vs Clio

I am looking to buy a car in the next couple of weeks and have identified the Toyota Yaris 1.33 TR (petrol) or Renault Clio 1.5 Dynamique (diesel) as my shortlist.
I like them both to drive and would look to buy with cash at around 1 year old. I do a fair number of miles as I regularly visit family 200 miles away.
If anyone has any experience or advice it would be appreciated. If it makes any difference I am 25, single and female.
Thank you

Go for the Toyota.
Renault often have issues with electrics which can be ..ermm..problematic and expensive to fix.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

Not just the electrics....:)0 -
Thanks for the advice. I was err-ing towards the Yaris anyway but my dad assures me the Ckio diesel is a good engine (and he doesn't like French cars). Anyway I spoke to a friend today who drives an old shape 1 litter Yaris with 100,000 miles on the clock and has no intention of changing it despite the fact he could easily afford to buy any car he wanted. Sold.MSE aim: more thanks than posts :j0

And I bet he still thinks VW make reliable cars
Manufacturers make a name for themselves and when the quality starts to slip they somehow manage to keep the good name.....
As for the Clio“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Isn't the Yaris made in Toyota's French factory in Valencienne now for the UK market?
Used to be Taiwan before maybe.0 -

They never been built in the UK factory in Derby then?
TBH I'd probably go for the Clio because it's a diesel and you'll benefit from it if you do a lot of miles. I do believe quality has improved..... (I currently drive a 2007 Laguna II though, so I'm perhaps a bit crazy :rotfl:)0 -
If you're going to be doing a hefty number of miles - a diesel would be more economical.
Just a suggestion, but would it be worth considering buying an older car? If you're buying a virtually brand new car a large mileage from you will ruin any re-sale value even more. Suppose that doesnt really matter if you're planning on keeping it 10 years but not many people do that0 -

I thought they built the Avensis and Auris there now, and used it as a parking lot for the Yaris.0
