The amount of times i've had to queue up behind somebody who's buying literally nothing only to find them paying with a card. I'll apologise in advance to whoever it was on here but if i ever end up standing behind you in Asda while you pay for your 8p noodles i'll probably strangle you!! either that or buy you the chuffing noodles myself just to stop you wasting my time.
For a start, it takes less time to authorise a card payment in most situations than for a checkout assistant to count out change if you hand them a note (which I would, straight from an ATM outside if I couldnt use my card....)
Furthermore, who are you to dictate how someone pays for anything? If you don't like it go to another bloody checkout. If I ever encounter you in a supermarket I'll make sure I take as long as possible to enter my PIN, don't worry0 -
Kilty,
that is a bit sad though. Some of us lead busy lives, in this day and age people need to keep up.
Why would you want to stand in a queue and pay for 8p noodles? Why would you want to step out of the way to purchase items priced below £1? What is the matter with people, if you look on the floor of most checkouts in petrol stations, certain convenience stores you'll find at least 5p on the floor.
You could probably find enough pennies on the floor to pay for your 8p noodles?
People who pay for pathetic amounts on credit cards are saddos really. If I were behind someone pay like that and I was in a rush? I would probably say something to them....knowing that most of the people in the queue would agree with me! If I were working in checkout? I would refuse point blank and would probably make a light comment about how sad they are.
But thats me and I dont work in a checkout, but I have a big mouth and do say how I feel.0 -
I can't say I've ever paid for 8p noodles with a card. If you were behind me in a queue and voiced your opinion then I'd simply voice mine back at you, louder.
Why should I be forced to withdraw money when I can make purchases using my debit card, avoiding the pocket full of change in the process? If the retailer doesn't object (which most large ones don't including Tesco in most of my experience) then I have the freedom to pay for purchases with any means they are willing to accept.
Contactless payments are coming though, that'll make you wait a couple of seconds less...0 -
What would you voice back? "I want to pay 8p for my noodles on my credit card / debit card"
Lol.....you can picture the scene can't you0 -
I don't think I'd go as far as paying for 8p noodles on my card (or buying 8p noodles in a single transaction for that matter
)
Or even buying 8p noodles, :rotfl:0 -

In fact it doesn't take less time, unless it's a bloke.
Bloke: queues up with card in one hand and noodles in the other. Noodles get scanned, bloke hands over card and pays. Man walks out carrying the noodles.
Woman: queues up with noodles. Noodles get scanned, noodles get bagged. woman looks in bag for purse, takes out purse, decides which card to pay with, mutters something. Puts card in machine the wrong way... twice. Refuses cashback, no idea why cos she hasn't even got 8p in her purse nevermind a tenner. Takes out address book, looks up pin number, enters pin number. Removes card from machine, puts card back in purse, closes purse. Cashire gives woman the reciept, woman opens purse again and puts receipt in it, closes purse and puts it back in bag. Collects noodles in bag and notices free Asda magazine, picks up magazine and reads the front cover before deciding she'll have it and puts it in the bag with noodles.
if you were ever in front of me in Asda buying 8p noodles on your card i'd take your card out of the machine, stick it in the gob that you'd be flapping whilst voicing your opinion back in a louder voice, pay the 8p out of my own pocket, throw the noodles at you and boot you up the *rse0 -

That's exactly why I think it takes less time then, being male.....scheming_gypsy wrote: »

You'd get as far as reaching for the card machine then you'd hit the floor, since I'd probably take it as someone attempting to steal my card rather than someone just being a smart !!!!.0 -
Not gonna quote it here Schemeing, not necessary but that is F funny, and so so true! :rotfl:0

Kilty wrote:I thought Lidl accepted credit cards anyway? Sure they show the MasterCard logo on their signs and MasterCard debit cards only exist in the US; they'd be treated as a credit card here regardless.eyelinerprincess wrote: »Lidl do take cards because I ususally pay there using mine.
Strange. Ours most definitely only takes debit cards which I find a nuisance. I know because it was pointed out to me at the checkout once when I tried to pay with my credit card and also once they had pointed it out to me I noticed the signs :rotfl:
I wonder if they vary from branch to branchI live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.0
