  • She could have said it as a few years back (3-4 years ago) the tills would bring up a message of ' Under minnimum ammount' or something to that effect if a chasier tried to process a card payment for under £1 and maybe this cashier thought that the same still applied

I hardly ever carry cash round with me (cos I don't have any!) so use my cards a lot for even small purchases (lowest is 55p).

I have come across stores that will only accept card payments for purchases over a fiver or tenner, but the large ones usually don't bother. If I do come across the situation of not having bought enough, I buy something extra that i know I will need in the future, and on one occasion i paid for the shopping of the customer behind me and added my goods to it! she gave me the money for it (and needless to say staff and other customers were looking on in disbelief, but I was really stuck!). Hope she didn't want to take anything back for a refund....
Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!

Hmm, digging up old threads is where its at.

Tesco refused to accept my debit card this afternoon for a coffee in the cafe (65p) reason being that they can't accept cards for purchases under £2. Being someone who doesn't like to carry cash, I found that a bit of a problem.

I've had no trouble elsewhere in the store for small purchases so is that because the catering is outsourced to Eurest ?

Is it really that difficult to get over £1!

Just go over to the pick 'n' mix and buy 2 single chocolate eclairs to make up the difference!
