I think the credit/debit card thing comes down to the seller being liable for more if it's a credit card they've been paid by - they're probably just looking out for themselves!

It's worth remembering that Tesco cafés are not rund by Tesco in most shops; they're private companies. This probably means that they'll not accept payments for <£2 or whatever, but that's down to their own policies.

Yep - my GF - she's a manager for one store and has worked in a few, all of which (3 stores I think) changed over a couple of years ago.

Why did'nt you just leave what you had brought on the counter for her to put back? and then you would still have had your bus fare....... ?

I would never use a card for under a quid... makes you look skint

    makes you look skint quote

Who cares what others think about you??
What does it matter if someone "thinks" you look skint; they KNOW nothing about you.
Why are people so concerned what other "people" are thinking of them, they dont know you, I dont give a monkeys.
  • I think I would have left the stuff there! Mind you if you can walk to work I think I'd try and save the bus fare most days as well! Tesco seem to love bulk buy shoppers, the little people they don't seem to love as much.
    Did you contact tesco?

They dont love bulk buy shoppers on their web-site - I have been unable to order more than 10 cartons of orange juice for home delivery as they claim that filling such an order could cause 'stock problems'. Even though I pointed out that they had my order 48 hours before they needed to despatch it, they said they didn't download them till the morning of the delivery!

It seems the rules vary from shop to shop as to how much customer service you get after all!

ive used my debit card to buy a 25p pack of chewing gum from sainsburys b4 with no probs

    Wow.....this site is very interesting!

Why did you travel to a Sainsburys to buy a 0.25pence pack of chewing gums?

Unless you were already in Sainsburys and done your shopping and on the way out you thought -oh dear, I'll go and line up to buy some chewing gums and realised you didnt have any cash but needed your £0.25pence chewing gums so brought them on you credit card. Right?

How come? I fascinated to know!
  • maybe they were passing Sainsbury's and realised they had bad breath and had a date in a minute and didn't have time to take money out?
