Turn off UAC then
Is it just the nag screen .. .. or is it the privilege / function, either way you can choose !

I am quite happy with W7, seems to be a logical progression on from XP, whereas Vista was an "evolutionary dead end" !
I laughed, windows 7 is a progression from vista. While the dodo can probably be classed as a evolutionary dead end, Windows Vista can not.
Windows Vista is not a dodo
Besides, the whole point of evolution is that it doesn't have dead ends, its the constant development or removal of features to achieve the highest fitness under current conditions.
But personally I never found Vista to be a problem, and windows 7 is maybe slightly better but not majority so, and as for the " are you sure you want to do this" messages, what is the big deal, its an extra click, and I am happy knowing that the security is there.0 -

Interesting you should use the phrase dead end / dodo / evolutionary !
Redmond withdrew the funding for Vista, which, with its over protection and Kevlar coating was intended for a CloudWare O/S.
When the sales fell and the CloudWare funding was pulled there was no use for the Kevlar components embedded in Vista. Vista was given a friendlier face and relaunched as Win7.
A good job too otherwise we would all be speaking Linux gobbledegook. Vista to the average user is a marriage of Peaches & Creosote. :beer:Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I can have it has a download, so i could have it today,or have it on disc delivered.1 main problem with vista is you cant always find files you have downloaded,
Que? It sticks downloads in the Downloads folder on your account. Click on your account name and you'll see the Downloads Folder.
If you can't even work that out, you're going to be really stuffed on Windows 7.0 -

you clearly have not had the issues i have had with vista,or you wouldnt have made the comment implying i wouldnt know where to find a downloaded file!!!!
There in lies the issue.
I can assure you i am not the only person that has missing files that have been downloaded.
Any updates that have been done makes the issue rear its ugly head again.
offence has been taken from your comment! I will now have to open a bottle of red tonight now!!0 -
Vista does not download anything
teenee60 does not download anything
Your browser downloads everything
Download the latest defraggler from here its the green button RHS
- the file name is exactly dfsetup121.exe
- when its downloaded use the search facility to find dfsetup121.exe
- then change the download location in your browser / TorrentZ / FTP to suit your needs
Now delete dfsetup121.exe it was just an exercise to discover the download location. Enjoy your bottle of red !Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I am not going to specifically question other peoples problems (or with some imo apparent problems) with Windows Vista, however, I am in the camp of not entirely understanding what all the fuss is about. I have both Vista and 7 (on different machines) and can say that there is no major differences between the two from this end user's point of view. One is not significantly simpler to use than the other nor have I ever had a system crash with either system.
What I will say is that with vista you need to turn the UAC off where 7 does not have this in the first place (or is defaulted off), and my win7 starts up and shuts down faster than my vista, I cannot say if this is due to the OS as the win 7 system has less installed on it. When my vista install was new it loaded and shut down faster.
We are comparing apples with apples here imo, there is no major difference between the two from my personal experience. I do wonder if some of the people slatting the system are just Mac users getting on the band wagon or people that feel they they need to justify to themselves why they paid out to upgrade from vista to win 7. One perosn even claimed to avoid vista like the plague then proclaim that is was an evolutionary dead end, well clearly has no personal experiance so is just going of others opinions, I however prefer to make my decitions based on experience.I have never had a problem finding where I have downloaded files to (on any system I have ever used ever) so cannot really suggest any solutions to the OP's problem there.
I think my dodgy version of win95 was about the worst OS I have had for the dreaded BSoD other than that it has been all good.
