    Thomas Lloyd again.
I love my Chesterfields and they're the comfest sofa I've ever had even the GF who hates the look of them admits that they're comfy.

Mother and mates have all used them too and apart from an issue over legs for a mate they're been great.
  • thanks for all the pointers!

I took a wonder round the usual places today and from what I could tell (in my limited knowledge of furniture!), the harvey's stuff felt quite solid.
All being said, the DFS stuff has a five year guarantee, compared to harveys' 12 months.

To test sturdiness hold the sofa at one corner down at floor level and lift. Do this for the cheapest sofa in the store and the most expensive and see the difference.

If you can lift it easily and the other end stays on the floor it's rubbish.

    Can you explain that again?

Is one person holding a corner down & another person trying to lift the corner at the other end?
  • Have you tried John Lewis? Beautiful sofa's!

MrsE - i think daveyjp is referring to the flexibility of the sofa here. If it is solid in structure, if you lift one corner, the other end should rise with it. if it doesn't, then it's flexing and has no strength.

daveyjp - is this what you meant?

I am looking for leather settee for a flat I am about to rent out. http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.208-3079.aspx

Can I aks you learned ones if this is any good?

I had one similar to that from Tesco before I bought from Thomas Lloyd. The cheap price lured me in.

After two months of normal household use, the seat cushions shredded. Tesco sent an independant technician out who said the leather was very poor quality. I rejected it as not fit for purpose and got a refund.

It was then I reseached leather and sofa frames and ended up buying from Thomas Lloyd. It's lovely leather and I've not regretted it.
Here I go again on my own....

  • You can't go wrong with anything by Tetrad or Duresta - John Lewis sell both. Have had a Tetrad suite for 15 years and it is still amazing. Bought a Duresta suite just after Xmas for our new family room and am delighted with it. You do get what you pay for at the end of the day.

we ordered our new sofas from funiture village today. we ordered over the phone as our nearest store is more than an 80 mile round trip. however we did go to the store a few weeks ago to 'try before we buy' and were thoroughly impressed, not only with the quality of their furniture for the money but also the friendly and professional staff who left us to browse in peace.
