    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
Just had a call from "Online PC Masters" Not my first, but today I decided to play along for a bit, usually I just hang up.

After the call, a quick google brought me here, so I thought I'd share.

A chap "called" Daniel Black (Strong Indian Accent) tells me he's from Windows, and my PC is sending him messages about errors.

He runs through his script, and when I question is he from the real "Windows" company, he tells me he's from Online PC Masters on behalf of Windows and Microsoft, and he's a certified technician, and for some reason mentions the Royal Bank of Scotland.

He gets me to load up event viewer and shows me there are many errors and warnings which indicate my PC is infected, and asks me for the total number of messages etc, ooh I'm scared now.

He then asks me to run msconfig, and shows me the number of services that are "stopped", these are essential programs that the virus has destroyed, better hurry up before they all go that way.

He asks me to check that "Remote Access Connection" is still running.

He explains that a virus scanner is only set to stop 40% of attacks, and that clicking adverts on youtube will infect my pc before I know what's what.

He then tells me that before he can transfer me to a supervisor, he must install some remote admin software from https://www.ammyy.com

At this point I decide enough is enough, I tell him i'm not going to install some random software of a random website. He assures me that he's being straight with me, and I need to do it now before my PC gets worse.

I ask him where he's calling from, he tells me the HQ is in "Lutonburg"???
When I ask if he's in India he admits the call center is there. I explain that I know what I'm doing with computers and that this is obviously a scam he pretty much gives up. I tell him nice try, it's been fun.

I can see that some would fall for this, but I'm going to do my best to make sure that nobody I know will.

(off to youtube to click on some ads)

First say exactly what you did?

Did you go to any websites, and download any software?

So they got you to go to a webpage, but afterwards you said no and hung up on them?

How did they get you to find the website, did they say to search google for ammyy?
