You need to report that this happened to the CEA administrators in case you need to appeal the result of your child's test. The centre where your child sat the test will undoubtedly have reported this to the administrators anyway. Don't wait until the results come out to appeal if you're not happy. You will not be taken seriously.

My daughter has taken ill with a viral infection from the beginning of the week - it doesn't look likely she will be fit enough Saturday. I have contacted AQE and they have said if she is not attending to let them know. If she is still no better tomorrow I will contact the dr. (who we saw Tuesday) for some confirmation that she wasn't well. I know she has completed the first 2 but say she didn't do well in one of those tests. Any advice anyone.
  • Just a bit of info from someone who's child did the AQE last year, we were told that the schools you put down didn't care which preference you gave them and my childs P.7 teacher was able to tell her on the monday morning after she recieved her score/school placement (I can't actually remember which, sorry, which is unbelieveable since I ate, slept and breathed nothing else at the time!) that she had already known, possibly from the friday. the system was a mess last year and I hope it's better now.

I will have my son down for an Integrated Grammer if his score is suitable or else an Integrated Secondary, the Grammer have told parents face to face that they don't mind being put as second preference:T

Have you thought about a Grammar school as an alternative?
  • HI Jogym keep a note of all dates etc and get confirmation from doctor if you can of when your daughter was ill and the nature of the illness, just incase you need to claim under AQE special circumstances. Try not to worry too much ;)

Neveranymoney. Primary schools have always got a list of the results over the weekend before the kids comeback Monday this has always been the case even in the days of the 11+ test.

PS Good luck to everyone for Saturday.
  • However, competition was stiff and she didn't get in, as a result of putting Thornhill second, they would not accept her and the girl had to go to a secondary school. I though this was nasty and vindictive of Thornhill. (Schoolsarein derry/Londonderry).

The school cannot discriminate against children because of the preference the parent gave the school on the form, and if the school did then they would be liable to challenge and the challenge would succeed. It is possible however that they had already allocated all their available places to children who put Thornhill first and had the same grade - that is not discriminatory. It would only have been discrimination if the school had given places to children who put it as first preference but who got a lower grade and had no special circumstances.

Oh I was worried about the snow too so I've borrowed my mums jeep to get us there....just hope the teachers make it!! Last weeks power cut freaked me out (although daughter said no one batted an eye lid lol) I drove straight back to the school and waited outside after visions of 200 kids evacuated into a freezing playground came into my mind lol
    Good luck all x
