Trying for a Baby Part Six

  • Hi Ladies, I've been lurking for a while, I'm not quite ready to join you properly just yet but I have a question! I'm posting under a different user name as a few 'real life' people know my user name that I normally use! First a bit of background info though! OH and I had planned to start TTC after xmas but we then decided to get married (basically to keep family happy who think marriage should come before babies although we did plan to get married eventually anyway!!). My wedding is in may and we're going straight on honeymoon. I'm on the pill at the min so have very exact 28 day cycles. Going by that (which I know is unlikely to be the case for my real cycles), if I stooped the pill when I have my last AF week before the wedding I would be due AF about 4 days after we get back....meaning we could actually be on our way to a BFP by then!!! The thing that concerns me is the chance of AF appearing while we're on honeymoon. I think this is unlikely as before I was on the pill I had very irregular cycles but it did tend to be that they were long rather than short....however, apart from about a 3 month break at one point I have been on the pill for over 10 years now so things may have changed drastically since then!!!

Sooo, I suppose what I'm asking is.....what are you're experiences of what happens when you come of the pill? I know everyone is different but just a bit of an idea how its been for others might put my mind at rest!!!

Because I will not have had 2 AFs to use as reference I have no idea how long my cycle will be and therefore no idea when I might Ov? I was thinking of BDing every day from CD 6 - 14 (!) What do you guys think? I think it'll be knackering.

    Lots of love

I think that stopping at day 14 might be too early!

Though you could maybe try every other day for part of the time and every day around CD14 which seems to be the most usual time for ovulation.

I have a CBFM but it gave me 6 high days before the 2 peaks so we ended up BDing 8 days in a row plus twice on one of the peak days. At the end of it DH was demanding to see the monitor because he thought I was making up all the high days so we'd have to BD more! I wish I'd thought of that on previous months :rotfl:

As for fertility testing, I had internal scans and bloods done. Also, I requested HSG which is to test if the fallopian tubes are open.
None of those hurt, no problems found either:o

Good idea to bring your chart, or list of your cycle days:)

    Welcome Countrybum:wave:
Would you like to be listed on the first page? Would something like this be OK?

    Countrybum (29) TTC #1 since 10/10

As for OPKs, did you get any other ov signs?

Mrs Excited, glad everything is OK, and you can start TTC:T
    2011 baby it is then!:j
Good luck with Bding every other day:D
You should perhaps continue BDing a bit longer though.

    Sounds like fun to me!

But, it's only your first month of TTC, so don't put too much pressure on yourself to do it every day for over a week. You will always have next month and a better idea of when you have ov'd too.

    Good luck! xxx

you could wait for one more month before coming off the pill to ensure you don't get af on honeymoon.

i came off the pill in may after 12 years. my cycles were pretty regular before i got pg (had mc at 11 weeks). i had four cycles and they were all around 30 days - it wasn't as easy to guess when it would arrive like it is on the pill! my cycles were all over the place when i was younger so looks like things settled down whilst i was on the pill.

i am currently waiting for my first af after mc then i can start again.
