I have my ultrasound scan tomorrow morning to check for cysts. DH has taken the morning off to come with me which makes me feel a bit better, but still pretty nervous. Guess it's going to be an internal scan and can't say I'm thrilled about it :o. It's all in the name of getting that elusive BFP though, right?? Plus can't even treat myself to chips or chocolate afterwards due to low carb/low sugar diet I'm currently on (and hating, btw).
Try sugarfree/diabetic chocolate. Thorntons one is particularly good ;)

As for the scan, I've had both inside and outside. It's not painful for "normal" people, and the thing deffo looks more scary than it is, and they are very discrete (dim the lights, you cover your hips etc with either your clothing or their paper towels etc. It's not a nice thought, but it's not marked in my memory as one of the more scarring tests I've had ;) And actually I preferred that experience to the smear tests... and that's even with the pain (I'm not "normal") I experienced.:o You'll be fine :)

How long have you been waiting for an appt for the scan? My doc sent through the request the day I saw him (19th May) so it's been over a month for me. Plus it will be another couple of weeks before I get to discuss the results and then I can get some actual 'official' advice on what I'm supposed to be doing. :rotfl:
My appointment came within about 6 weeks (which I think is the normal "standard" waiting time. But, if you're concerned, I would ring up the booking line/xray department and tell them you've had a referral and are waiting for your appointment still and ask how long they think it might be. Often times they'll make an appointment on the phone with you, or tell you who you could do that through :)

Got my dreaded colposcopy appointment on Tuesday. In a way I hope that they also do the treatment then and there so that it's all over and done with and I don't have to play the stressful waiting game for another appointment
    Good luck :)

Scarly - I also had an internal scan recently and it was fine. There was a little pain, but that is because I was in pain in the first place (hence the scan).

Although it looks huge, as others have said, it isn't inserted that far, and it isn't very wide either.

I hope it all goes well for you xx

Does it HAVE to be done on CD1? Is there no leeway at all? Mine were CD2-CD5, as an example...

Hope it's not AF, and/or that you feel better soon though :)

Big ((HUGS)) and tonnes of chocolate for you i love holidays!!

Please try not to blame yourself! It isn't your fault, you can't control it and it certainly doesn't make you (or anyone else a failure). It makes Mother Nature a bit of a b'tch though, so aim your anger/frustration/upset at her!

I've been eating 1 or 2 pieces of 'sugar-less belgian plain chocolate' from sweet 'n low every time I get a major craving because it's suitable for low-carb diets and only has 0.9g sugar per 100g :j but I didn't realise Thorntons had diabetic choc as well! I've just had a look at their website and I've spied sugar-free FUDGE! OMG! OK, straight after my appt tomorrow I am going and raiding the nearest Thorntons I can find!
    :EasterBun

Thanks both bigzippy and euronorris for reassurance :) I had a little difficulty with my last smear (TMI but they had to reinsert 4 times!) so I'm hoping that as long as it's not as uncomfortable as that I'll be fine. Did anyone get told at the ultrasound if they saw anything, or you only found out once you'd gone to the doc's for results?

    Big hugs i love holidays!

There are a good few options out there if you know where to look these days. I think the uptake of the Atkins diet brought more out of the wood work too :) Just be careful not to gobble toooo much at once, as it can have a diuretic affect ;)

I got told at the time that she had found no cysts etc and had found PCO. I'd be mildly surprised if they didn't tell you at the time tbh. My scanner showed me the screen with my PCO on too, so don't be afraid to ask - after all they can only say no :) (but tbh I think it's unlikely as you can now ask for a copy of everything the docs send between themselves etc) I've been with sis to 2 scans and they told her at the time too and showed her the screen both times too.

My last smear didn't go brilliantly either ;) Scan was still better imo :)

Ah, rubbish. In which case I hope either AF doesn't come OR it arrives tomorrow and you can get to the lab without faff with sunday or getting out of work etc...? :)
