Fanyanna, (((hugs))) - I know with a smear - and its easy to say, but its true - the more relaxed you are, the less it hurts. Could you perhaps work on some kind of mediditive state, or have some hypnotherapy to get you through it?
    xx

I was actually quite relaxed (as I knew being tense would be counter-productive) and it wasn't the clamp thingy that hurt - other than when it slipped.

I found the scraping of the cells quite painful. I also had period like cramps for about 5 days after. As I said I was quite surprised as reading up most people say it doesn't hurt and of those that mentioned pain I think they were mainly referring to the clamp.

So no idea what I'm going to be like with a biopsy if I can't even manage the scraping.

Perhaps you just had someone who was inexperienced ? Ive had 2 smears and both were similiar but (TMI ALERT !) when I was having my 1st son I had several internals and some were agony and they clearly had no clue what they were up to  and just seemed to fudge about for a bit whilst others were in and out like secret ninjas :rotfl:

Fannyanna I would echo the advice about staying away from google (I did the same when I found out what my sister was having and scared myself silly) - everyone's bodies react differently, and it's quite possible that some of the people who have written about bad experiences, are exaggerating what happened to them, or they are just very unlucky. I know what you mean about the scraping bit being painful in the smear test - that was the part that hurt me a bit too (I also had cramps for the next few days and a bit of spotting, and my next period was slightly longer), but as you say, at least with this other procedure you will have local anaesthetic so you shouldn't feel it.

Hugs for the OH situation - I'm sure he probably feels fairly useless at the moment too, as in my experience, most men just try to come up with practical ways of fixing things and when they can't fix things themselves, they go to pieces. I'm sure he'll understand though, so don't feel bad about sending him out. Have you sat down and gone through the leaflets etc with him so he understands a bit more about the procedure too? Have you got any chocolate in the house to make you feel better?

Hope you feel better soon - try to have a nice soothing bath, paint your nails or do something to make the most of having the house to yourself.

    Hugs,

((hugs)) fannyanna. I hope they can get you the treatment soon so you can get back to your TTC! I think QQ's suggestion about thinking of the doctors and nurses as robots might help you.
Well done on the weight loss - 5lbs is awesome!

    ((hugs)) also for BFN Mishka.

Sorry about the lack of hugging icons but I'm on my phone.
