Trying for a Baby Part Six

Just called the doctors to get some test results. Good news was the swabs taken with my smear came back all clear (although I'm still obviously waiting for the actual smear results) but the results of my blood test shows that I didn't ovulate. I had another blood test this morning (CD25) so there's a chance that could come back showing a late ovulation but I doubt it.
I just feel like there's no point trying if my body doesn't want to play fair.
I am however SOOOO grateful that I'm finding all this out now and not after a year of TTC.0 -
Im sorry fannyanna, fingers crossed it was late ovulation.... do you get all the signs and the LH surge etc too?
QQ - what details do you need from me to be on the first page, please? TTC since May 2011, (mc twins in 1997)Baby 2b born March 2013! :j:j:j0 -

Oh, thats not good news (or is it) dont know if its worse knowing there is a reason for not falling pregnant or being in ignorant bliss !?!
Hugs either way

I'm pretty sure I've had a surge before - although I'm now doubting myself. That was when I wasn't even having periods so maybe it was a false positive.
I was worrying about potentially having blocked tubes but it seems I'd got ahead of myself. Guess I need to work on ovulating first before I worry about blocked tubes!0 -
Doc has suggested that I may have blocked tubes (tested positive for Chlamydia when I was younger
) and has been suggesting all sorts of nasty tests/procedures.

I never had that test for some reason:huh: My doctor prefers seeing my ovaries to check if I ov'd or not (more expensive):oQQ - what details do you need from me to be on the first page, please? TTC since May 2011, (mc twins in 1997)
I could add your age if you'd like to, I haven't put mine though:pI'm pretty sure I've had a surge before - although I'm now doubting myself. That was when I wasn't even having periods so maybe it was a false positive.

Do you know when you might have ov'd? I'd guess you haven't ov'd yet, or have just ov'd. It needs to be 7DPO you know.

The first blood test was CD21 (so should roughly be 7DPO). I guess they do the same test on CD25 to try and catch a late ovulation.
I've no idea whether I've ov'd or not. I kinda got thrown by the novelty of having a period but I am planning to temp and do daily OPK's from my next period - which should start Friday but we'll see.
Do you know how they can tell whether you've ov'd or not by looking at your ovaries? I've been referred for a scan so I wonder whether that will give any clues.Don't worry too much now, you can worry if you do have probs, but it's a waste to do it now:cool:
This is very true but I can't help it. I'm one of those annoying worry warts.

I'm sorry about your mc, how far along were you? (((hugs))).

I was about 14 weeks, it was all a big blur at the time, only found out they were twins after. They say everything happens for a reason and I truly, truly believe that (now, then I didnt of course - hindsight is a wonderful thing!!). I couldn't have coped in an unhappy relationship with two babies at such a young age. No thats not true, I absolutely COULD have coped, but it wouldnt have been fair or happy. Sorry - rambling now....
I dont mind putting my age, I'm 31.
I wanted to ask questions about the teste everyone is talking about, i think they are blood tests to check you are ovulating, right? Can someone give me more information and also, are there any other tests you can ask for. I want to arm myself with as much info as possible.
Thank youBaby 2b born March 2013! :j:j:j0 -

I've seen mine, both before, during and after ov. The during ov one looked like the bottom bit has burst and water was spewing out:cool:This is very true but I can't help it. I'm one of those annoying worry warts.

There are usually 2 blood tests, one at around CD3 to check general hormones like thyroid, prolactin, estorgen, FSH etc
It can indicate problems as well as a bit of a clue to ovarian reserve.
CD21 is for progesterone which is secreted after ov. It is best done at 7DPO. If you do it before ov, obviously it'll tell you you haven't ov'd:o
Other tests are for stuff like STD, internal scan to check how your insides look. It can find things like PCO, polyps, fibroids.
More serious ones are for checking the tubes (HSG, hycosy or lap & dye) and uterus.
There will be a test for your DH too, a blood test and SA (semen analysis).
Sometimes no probs are found after all that:o
Some can be due to psychological issues. Mine could be that:p0 -
hi all, i'm back now everyone's being happy and nice again!
great news re your clinic appointment today twigpig, really pleased for you
fannyanna, try not to fret. even if you didn't ov this time round, it could just be your body finding its way again - you had a very long time without any period, after all! plus, apparently it's normal not to ov every single cycle (although maybe that's just what people have been telling me to make me feel better about the fact that I only seem to ov every other cycle...!)
congrats northern78!
welcome 2ba3c! and welcome to the other person who joined us but whose name I cant remember, sorry!(I'm useless)
Well, I must confess I (for the first time) had a bit of a melt down last night re TTCIt was awful, I felt so sorry for my poor DH, who didn't know what was going on! Basically, as I've said, DH has thrush and therefore we haven't been able to BD for the past couple of weeks. I knew I was due to ov any day (I think it was actually today - have had terrible ov pains), so was frustrated about not being able to BD. Anyway, last night I was really horny and one thing led to another...and DH insisted (quite rightly) on using a condom. Afterwards, all I could think about was that we've missed another month's chance...then when he made a throwaway remark about how if horniness was a sign of ov, then I was definitely ov-ing(!) - I just burst into tears!! I was properly hysterical for about 10 mins, and he had no idea why...poor him
Once I managed to tell him, it was ok and he gave me a big cuddle and we chatted about it etc, but I think we were both quite shocked at my reaction.
Anyhoo, I'm ok now!Been a bit out of sorts all day but went for a jacuzzi and steam room at the gym this evening and feel more relaxed now
(I remembered whilst in the jacuzzi that you're not supposed to do that sort of thing whilst TTC, but ho hum)
In terms of exercise-doing and weight-loss, how is everyone else doing? (I know a few people said they needed/wanted to lose weight or improve their health & fitness). I've been religiously going to the gym 3 times a week, although I missed my usual monday night class due to my train being delayed by an HOUR! I downloaded a calorie-counting app too and have been doing that for a week so far. Weighed myself today and have lost 1lb - a bit measly but I haven't got that much to lose so I can only expect it to creep down slowly.
by the way mishka - I love your avatar!
