I do understand that some people will find going for a smear very stressful due to their own personal circumstances, but if you find that difficult then I stand by my comment of 'how are you going to cope when a midwife has to put her hand up there?'

Nobody likes having a smear and probably every woman dreads it, but it should be part of a health check every woman undertakes before ttc, along with checking that your rubella vaccination is still working etc.

I find it helps me to look at it like this - cervical smear or cervical cancer, which would be worse to deal with?

WW I do agree with you to a certain extent. In fact I made a comment the other day about having to get used to this type of thing if I want to have a baby.

What I did find offensive was the fact you felt it appropriate to question my desire to have a baby and whether I had really considered the matter. In my opinion that's a bit below the belt (no pun intended) but oh well life goes on. You have your opinion, I have mine and so does everyone else.

This thread is normally super duper supportive (and friendly) hence why so many women post here and I'd hate to see it turn into tit for tat so let's just draw a line under it and move on ___________ :D.

I dont like laying there having someone look at parts of me I have not even seen but they are very discreet and cover your modesty with a blanket.
I don't like it either, but I try not to think doctors and nurses as people:p

Hey everyone. Was away for a long weekend with DH, so spent the last hour reading back over the last few days. Thanks to the guys who replied about agnus castus.

MOZZYC - Congrats! So pleased for you. :D

QQ - Hope you're Dad is recovering from his operation. How's the crappy tea going?

Not much to report here. 6 days until my appointment at the fertility clinic. FF doesn't know what the h*ll to do with me :rotfl: It moved my OV day from CD24 to CD34, then moved it back to CD24 and then yesterday, back to CD34. It obviously doesn't like my temperature patterns. I've gone from being possibly 16DPO to 6DPO. I still don't think I've OV'd full stop :(

I'm CD40 now. Will decide next week to test or not depending on what FF does over the next few days. Maybe AF will arrive before then. Who knows......

Reading back on the smear stuff, I hate them too, but know how important they are, so drag myself to get them done and always have a nice treat afterwards. DH is always waiting with a big hug and pampers me when I get home. I also had an abnomal one a few years ago and had a colposcopy at the hospital to check the cells. Thankfully, no treatment needed. Just meant I needed a smear every years for a few years to keep an eye out for any changes. I should mention I passed out in the middle of the hospital procedure, so I can honestly say I'm not even considering the whole pregnancy and child birth thing, or I'll work myself into a tizzy..... :rotfl: I guess when the bean is in there, it's going have to come out one way or another, so I'll just have to get over my fears when the time comes.

Unfortunately, we all have our fears and although they can seem irrational to others, it's not something you can just switch off no matter how much you'd like to...... :)

Is the FF offer still on FB? Thanks GG for posting.

I'm wondering how to like the page without my friends seeing it on the news feed - no one knows that we're TTC, but I'd take up the offer if I can somehow keep it secret.....

I justhad a look and the promotion has ended :(

For future reference this is what I did re: people seeing the page.

I liked the page then went immediately to my profile page and deleted the post that said I had liked it so that it didn't pop up on people's news feed. Then went back to the FF page and followed the link to the offer on their website, completed transaction.

FF is still listed in the other section of my "likes" though but you would only see it if you were looking at that section and I don't think many people trawl through their friend's list of "likes". If you wanted to though you could go back to the FF page after purchasing the upgrade and "unlike" the page.

    Morning all,

CD 10 today for me, and wondering if today is the best day to try my OPKs - I only have 8 of them, and this will be the first month of me using them - I've got a 28-29 day cycle?

They are the Tescos ones that a lovely poster sent to me. Am I right in thinking you should test in the afternoon? (The instructions weren't in the packet with them, and I wasn't sure if they are meant to be done in the morning - in which case I can't obviously do it today.) I have a feeling (based on CM) that I may ovulate around day 16.

They are supposed to be done in the afternoon (can't remember exact timings they suggest but I think it's like 2pm - 4pm) but I do mine in the evening as I don't fancy peeing into a pot at work :rotfl:

You are supposed to do them between about 2pm and 8pm I think as this is when the concentrations of LH are higher. You need to hold your wee and not drink for about 3 hours before using them.
I would probably start them now so you don't miss ov. I think QQ said in a post a while back that you should do them once a day then as the lines start to get darker do them two or three times a day. QQ please correct me if I'm wrong and have just made that up! ;)
