This is the first month I've actually tracked which day it's on (am writing things in my diary), which means I ovulate later than the calendar charts predicted

I guess I was just wondering if anyone else was TTC and whether they'd found the PCOS an issue and if so, what had been done about it. From what I gather my main issue is obviously the lack of periods (my Doc has suggested I'm probably not ovulating at all which isn't helpful) which hopefully the Metformin will resolve. I guess if that works I stand as good a chance as anyone else at conceiving.
Once you ov, then you are in for the running same as other people.
Your mum may have had it too.
    Good luck:)

Oooh one more thing - can I blame mood swings on PCOS?

Hubby actually asked me the other day what was up as I keep having mood swings. I just glared at him :D
    :rotfl:
    I don't get mood swings:cool:

One time I went thinking I had flu and only went because my eyes were bright red. The doctor I saw sent me straight to hospital thinking I had bleeding on my brain. Turned out we were both wrong and I had a nasty case of glandular fever.

Can i join? Hubby and i have been trying to conceive since Feb this - found out i am being made redundant in March and we did discuss putting it off until i get another job - but i am getting a good pay out that would last us a year (same salary as i am on now) so we have decided to just go for it.
    Welcome PurplePink:wave:
Would you like to be listed on the first page?
Would something like this be OK?

Thanks Bigzippy, Emsbet and QQ - nice to be able to vent somewhere. Don't want to bring DH down at all, he's feeling so sad. Last thing he needs is me being upset about it. I need to be the positive one. Have managed to get a cancellation on Thursday, so not too long to wait! And hopefully they will suggest Clomid for a try. On top of that, we'll both need to make a lifestyle change - get a bit healthier! x
They won't suggest clomid right away though, they'll usually suggest supplements and healthy lifestyle (cut down alcohol, quit smoking & do some exercise) first. Clomid is a bit controversial as to whether it helps or not. My doctor prescribes them, but not all doctor does that.

How does everyone manage to hold off taking pregnancy tests? I bought 2 first response tests at the weekend, and i am dying to take them but trying to hold off until at least the weekend....:p
One way is to only use FMU (first morning urine). Anything other than that is a waste as it's not concentrated enough. And don't leave the pg tests in the wc. That usually means missing the FMU, and gaining one more day:D

When is a reasonable length of time to leave it with no AF before going to the docs? It is now 9 weeks, I'm usually on approx 5 week cycle. Have tried eveyrhting i can think of to bring on AF (booked a wax, weekends away, date nights, wearing white trousers!). Never thought I would want AF!
As you are still young, the docs may just say wait few more weeks. It all depends on the doctor:o

I found doing sit ups helps bring on AF:p

Actually, I have a question for you. From person to person, is our fertile CM always the same each month? I know that watery CM is also fertile, but if I normally have EWCM at ov, could I have a month where I ov but only have watery CM? (does that even make sense?!) Just cos I've been having quite watery/slippery CM the past couple of days, but def no EWCM.
    It varies month to month:o
Bless. I'm glad I'm not (yet) at the stage where I can't be pleased/non-jealous at other people having babies - might feel different if it was a close friend/relative I guess. :o
Best way to avoid that is to get pg asap:p

forum GG has created for all people who are ttc so that we dont have to deal with the issues we raised on here
Glad you've found a great forum.

I post in other TTC forums as well (not GGs) as there are a lot more members in the exact same position as me (IVF, similar age, mc etc). There are other MSEers there too.
You are not allowed to post BFP announcement on that board.
I know GG and I havent been missed here,
You are wrong there, both of you are missed.

Wow - how did you manage to fool it? I really don't see the point in me testing CD6-CD10 at least, and after I ov.

if it's proven that you're not ovulating then Clomid. [FYI:You have to be under something like BMI of 30 to be prescribed that though (I get the impression this may vary doc to doc).]

If you're at all overweight they'll come down on the lifestyle choices side of things as a treatment plan. They reckon that a weightloss of 10% is often effective enough to kickstart naughty PCOS ovaries into producing eggies again.

Better get dieting then :). I've got quite a high BMI so all jokes aside I do need to get that sorted. And even though it obviously goes against me at the moment I do agree that lifestyle choices should be part of the treatment plan to a certain extent. Hopefully the Metformin gets my cycle going and I start ovulating rather than needing anythign else like clomid.

Has your GP referred you to a gynae at all?

No, my appointment in 3 weeks is with the same doctor although when she made notes they were all gynae related and she mentioned scans and blood tests. So I guess she's going to do all that herself. Although I do keep wondering if they have the facilities at the surgery - like the scan or whether she is going to do some basic checks (physicals) and then refer me. I'm very confused :)

So, here I am 2 days in a row - sheesh :rotfl:

I was more of an active poster before but in all honestly, it was becoming a bit too much at times. so I slipped away whilst still ttc and just popped back in now and again.

I decided after posting yesterday to just book the gp appointment instead of waiting for AF to show up in about 2-5 weeks, lol. As long as hubby can finish early tomorrow, we'll be going tomorrow, or I'll move it to next week if he can't get away.

I've had 10 cycles since Jan 2010, so my odds are already crappy, and the reality of not once seeing a peak reading on my cbfm over the last 5/6 months can't be ignored any more. I'm not even sure I'm ovulating, so I need to get some help.

I've put off the going to the gp knowing that I'm overweight, and although my gp never gives me the "you should lose weight talk", I've been nervous that they'll turn me away. My weight doesn't even bother me, although I did join slimming world in Jan knowing this would help us. I've lost 1.5 stone, so I know that the doc can see that I've been trying.

So, that's me and where I'm at....... Hopefully, with the gp's help, we can get things on track.

I've ordered a BBT thermometer this morning too and started a FF chart, although I get up at different times every day, so I'm not sure how this will work out, but may as well give it a try.

Feel like a newbie all over again :)

    :hello: Hello
Hopefully the doctors will be able to help you discover what is going on with your cycles.
Congratulations for losing all that weight btw! I did Slimming World before my wedding and I have to say it was the best diet I've tried and even though I'm not following it at the moment I am still sticking to the general principles.
