You should contact your CC company now, and inform them that you did not make the booking and to stop the payment.

It is possible they have your cc details from your previous dealings with them, but if there really was no confirmation payment details, then this seems like an error on their system or sharp practice, a phone call to them tomorrow should sort the problem out, but as I said, call your cc company NOW!

    .

Just a quick update - i phoned the travel co today and explained - the girl laughed and said she would cancel the booking. She didn't know why it said it would take deposit from cc as they didn't keep details but at least I don't have to pay for the hol now!!!
    Thanks for your advice!

    Hi

    Looking for some advice.

Fiancee got a touch screen mobile phone for xmas from her parents. Now 3 days ago she removed the film on the screen and it appears there is a small scratch/crack on the screen. It is very small and really can only be seen with the phone off.

The phone came with a hard case and stylus which has been used from xmas day. It hasn't been dropped or man handled in any way.

Today I took the phone to Carphonewarehouse where the customer service was shocking.

Basically they told me the phone could be sent for repair, it would take 28 days and we could be billed for the repair?

They seem unable to accept that the phone could have been damaged when they sold it.

What are my rights here? Do I have any?

Personally I feel we have been sold faulty goods which should be replaced.

    Thanks

I dont know if anyone can offer any advice but I bought a Bliss magazine subscription for my daughter for christmas. The offer was take out a 6 month subscription and get a free big make up set.
I thought great as it would be a brilliant xmas pressie for her. I took it out 1st November and even though she has been sent 2 magazines since then, I still havent had the free make up. had to give her an IOU for it. Emailed them countless times and only had one response 2 days before xmas saying it was in the post. Emailed since and nothing.
Do I have any rights with free gifts offered as part of an offer?
    Thanks

I bought a steam generator iron 11 months ago from Argos that has stopped working properly. I have a credit card statement but not the receipt - am I likely to get any joy from Argos? I'm worried that without the receipt I won't be able to claim under the manufacturers warranty. There is a two year warranty if I had registered (I didn't) so I can't see how the retailer could claim that only lasting 11 months was reasonable.

PS online reviews suggest that Morphy Richards steam generator irons are carp after a while whereas 'ive just bought it' Argos reviews are ok.
    I think....

    Advice please.

Ordered jewellery on-line 3rd December. Company finally say no longer made. Sent registered letter asking for full refund. Over £100 and paid by credit card.

My CC company set up a dispute and were going to contact the company's bank to reclaim the money for me.

Got an email on 31 Dec saying the refund is in the post.

By 9th Jan still no letter or refund.

Are they now going to claim they sent it? Stalling for time as they do not want the CC company to bug them?

The dispute is on hold with my CC company - how long should I wait before setting it off again?

Any advice would be very helpful.

    TIA

Will try this here and see if I get more responses!

Am I right in thinking that where goods are faulty (in this instance, a bag that has broken 4 days after I purchased it), the customer is entitled to a refunds (as opposed to an exchange or credit note)?

Additionally, if I don't have the receipt, will presenting the debit card I paid on be sufficient for this to not affect my rights?
  • Hi. I ordered a pandora bracelet from pandorajewelrysale.co.uk (in hong kong) on 12th Dec. After i'd ordered it i'd realised the actual price was more than i thought so i followed the instructions on the website and emailed to cancel. (It was literally 5 mins after). I still received the bracelet on the 1st January and its faulty. The end of the bracelets can be removed from the clasp so it cant even fit on my wrist. I have emailed them 5 times to both there email addresses to find out how to go about a return but had no reply. There is no contact telephone number for them either. To make things worse they charged me £30.54 and not £28.30.
Is there anything i can do about this?
  • What would be considered a reasonable length of time for a pair of specs to last?
Back in Aug 09 my wife paid well over £200 for a pair.- yesterday the bridge came out of the left lens rendering them unwearable. The optician maintains that she willl have to pay for the repair as they are out of warrantee.
To my mind expecting a pair of specs to last more than a few years isnt unreasonable - my own gigs are well over 3years old
Interested to see what others think

I had the same problem with my Dell laptop. Luckily it was still under warranty so fixed without any problems (they came to my house - fab!). But the engineer did say its a known common problem - so you might try the angle that its a manufacturing problem and so should be fixed free of charge.
    Good luck!
