Are you talking out of your derriere?

You are a BTL landlord, 2 properties apparently, who comes along as basically asks what the problem is, with the solution to the problem being "build your own", while you profit from those you are asking what the problem is.

Building your own obviously works for some, but not for others.

I'm just wondering though, you were doing 2 jobs, plus building a house, plus nipping home at lunchtimes (!?), plus raising 2 kids.

Not really a solution is it. More a case of "how to take 10 years off your life through stress".

Got any older posts which refer to this home you built yourself?

    I feel must correct you.

I am not a BTL Landord and I own 4 properties outright.

1 home,2 3 bed detached rented properties and 1 rented 3 bed flat, and all mortgage free.

Absolute tosh,I lived on site worked as a Transport manager for a local haulier and as a self employed home worker.

Many days consisted of full time work, home for half an hour meal break which was usually a nap and then followed by a full nights work.

A little breakfast 30 mins sleep and back to the day job grind.

self build is not the cheapest way to get on the property ladder. it also varies from area to area. not everyone wants to live or can live in the welsh valleys....development land in the southeast is at a premium. the same areas where many people have to work to earn a crust.

the property market has moved on leaps and bounds since the mid 80s.

you are still a buy to let landlord if you bought the properties with the intention to rent them (not live in them). buy to let refers to the intentions for the properties when purchased rather than the payment method. obviously you can get buy to let mortgages but you don't need one to be a buy to let landlord.

why does it matter how many houses headcone has - can he not have a point of view or even an opinion on something or do you just discount his point of view because he has more houses than you?

    I`m a little confused.

Are you saying that it is cheaper to let someone else buy land build a house on it and then buy it off them?

So because you are mortgage free, you decide this means you are not a BTL landlord!?

    Thanks for the entertainment :)
