My "proper job" would be sitting on my 'arris in an office probably from 8-6, plus a commute of 2 hours/day. And that'd be on a normal/light day. Then you get all that free overtime stuff you have to put in to complete stuff.
Whenever I had free time such as weekends and holidays I took my pickaxe wheelbarrow and shovel and dug out the footings for the dwarf walls, after the site had been squared off by a joiner.
Hard work in the extreme but masively rewarding.

LOL, brilliant.
I suggest your put your pickaxe down now, and stop digging
"Oh, I have a spare hour, I'll go build some more house". Hiring equipment over that time period to do a bit of building when you have a spare hour must have cost you an absolute fortune!
What did you do? Build the roof over the summer, few tiles at a time praying it didn't rain?!0 -
c) If we all did it, there wouldn't be enough land to go around[/QUOTE]
Nonsensical, there`s the same amount of land available whoever builds on it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

About right there and once I`d finished I bought a house in Babbacombe to rent to the locals.

Indeed.
So you built your own home, put yourself through all that (apparently, we all know you are talking absolute rubbish), to save costs, one would assume on buying a house.
You worked 2 jobs to earn money, making it sound really hard. Indeed, you have said it was really hard.
But then you simply bought another house when you had finished?
Get's better and better this bulls*it doesn't it
