Get off your backsides and do something positive.
Stop wishing for HPC which would be of benefit for you and therefore in essence detrimental to others, that is greedy lazy and spitefull.
Do what I did buy some land work you n@ts off and build a house yourself.
It`s difficult, bloody hard work but emminently possible.
The benefits are spectacular,ie mortgage free or as close as to it as possible.
There is no end of information freely available including ready made plans which can be modified to suit your own needs.
I did it and built a 5 bed 3 bath home over a period of 3 years while living in a caravan with two young kids.
It was sheer murder with days without sleep and working two jobs at once but if I did it plenty of other similarly motivated people can do too.
Stop moaning start doing!!!!
This forum has descended into little more than a Daily Mail circle j@rk off party and people should be ashamed to display such envy of others in a better position.

Are you saying it`s cheaper to let developers buy the land and sell you the end product?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Sourcing a good plot and building a house is probably a bit beyond yer average ftb to be fair.0

Well done mate.
That sums the HPC gang up. Best ever post I've seen on the subject.
Like you, I decided to get myself sorted. I took a 2 year contract in Germany and got deposit together.
Don't lose sleep over a HPC either. The government and people that matter won't allow it to happen.
The HPC gang are just trying to hype up panic and all it's doing is giving us a laugh.
Work hard and you shall have.We love Sarah O Grady0 -

blimy, what crawled up your bum and died?
The reason we don't all save up and buy development land and build our own property is:
a) Unless i found some probably illegal way of getting more income, I'd have to save for about 20 years just to get the land, and then the same again to get the property built.
b) We don't all have the skills, and would have to pay other people to do pretty much all of the work for us. I mean okay, I'm alright with a paint brush, and i managed to hang a door once, and tiling doesn't look too hard, but at the end of the day I'm a 28 year old girl
c) If we all did it, there wouldn't be enough land to go aroundsaving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.

Which would push up land prices out of reach of the lowest paid, who would then complain that land prices are artificially inflated.
Hard working farmers would in the firing line, bearing the brunt of the vitriol and bile spewing from the likes of those frequenting landpricecrash.co.uk who believe that posting mean comments on the Daily Mail website and making a land buyers strike group on Facebook will bring land prices crashing down to a sufficient level that they can afford to build a small mansion in Hyde Park while working part time at Primark.0 -

I get what you mean, so in answer to OP - because if everyone did everything the same the world would be a very different and i think, boring place.saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.
