Hi BACONANDCABBAGE - does your sister like Indian food? If so you could get her an indian spice tin and a selection of different Indian spices to put in a hamper, perhaps with a good Indian recipe book - I know I would like this - hope that helps Cheers Lyn.1

A nice part of a gift box for a keen baker is HM vanilla extract, paste and powder.
I'm currently making these items for F&F for Christmas and they're very popular/useful.August grocery challenge: £8.65/£300

Do you sew? All my friends and family are getting homemade bags this year with little appropriate goodies inside like nice tea and biscuits or body shop stuff (from good codes/vouchers). If you google 'free patterns' you get loads - only problem is choosing which ones to make! Many are suitable for beginners as well as more complicated ones for the more advanced sewers.1

I think a food hamper is a lovely idea.
Here are some things I would like but never justify buying out of my own budget.
Saffron, £2.80 at MrS is the cheapest.
Vanilla pods, £1.69 at MrT.
Dried mushrooms, £2.69 at MrT.
I would then bulk the hamper out with Robertsons mince meat jar, 30p at MrT at the moment.
A greens lemon pie filling, free at MrA with a voucher. PM me if you can not find it.
A greens creme brulee mix, free with the same voucher at MrA.
A wrights bread mix, like the cheese and onion one. Different to what your sister normally makes. There is a 30p off voucher by post at the moment (again pm if you can't find it) and it costs 89p at MrT, so cost will be 59p.
I would not waste money buying an expensive basket either. I would buy a nice flan or casserole dish. MrT has a nice white flan one for £3 at the moment. Put the items inside it and then go to a florist and ask for some cellophane, they normally give it to you free if you buy a nice peice of riubbon from them at the same time.
Total cost would be £7.69 or £8 with the ribbon and if any of my sisters are reading this, christmas is coming fast.£36/£240

if she bakes bread - jam!
and its now that you can get soft fruit to make it
its really easy and you can make nice jars.... glass paint
you can make extra for xmas too

I love the idea that other people had of the vanila pods, etc... But that's not exactly making something and can work out expensive. No point in buying what she'll make for herself - only you know what that includes.
What about a nice apron, if you can sew, for when she's cooking?1 -
We have a few thread which may help
Homemade gifts
Make your own chocolates
Chocolate truffles always go down well
The only thread we have on hampers is christmas hampers but it still may give you some ideas. I think the special occasions board are very devoted to making hampers
Please suggest me a present in a jar
Could you make a small photo collage from earlier years - maybe of you as kids, frame it, and that would be very well appreciated?
Let us know what you decide and we will merge this later
