have a party hun - my mum has been ill a few times over the last couple of years - and she gets cards and puts money in them. I hate it - I DONT want to be paid to look after her, but she wont listen to me and sis, it makes us feel - oh I dont know how to describe it, something like paid carers and that mum feels we dont do do it out of love...........Its horrible.
A bunch of lovely flowers? just a simple 'Thank you'? thats all me and sis wanted.1 -
How about if you feel up to it having them all over for nibbles and making hand made cards with the children, if your budget will stretch get a couple of bottles of wine to thank them. I'm sure they don't want anything from you but something personal like homemade cards would be a nice personal touch.
Hope you feel better soon.Credit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

These are really easy to do and cost very little if you use jars you already have in cupboards. They are made in the microwave so less 'faffing on'.

The most old style way of saying thank-you is a letter or HM card!
If they have done something that you would do for them if the situation was reversed then really there is no need to go overboard with pressies. Some personal and heartfelt words would be the most treasured aspect, and if they come with home baked treats / HM jam or similar then that is just a bonus.
That said, I do like the idea of a little tea party as a way to get people together - just need tea, sandwiches (2 varieties is enough) and HM cake or biscuits, perhaps with some cordial you can mix up as an alternative to tea. (Especially if there are any kids attending.) Your personal message could then be in one of two forms - either the invitation could have a thank-you along with (say) a single home made iced shortbread heart, or as each person left you could hand them a thank-you card with something similar - single biscuit/cupcake etc.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!1 -
Thank you Babyshoes ! Love the idea of handing them a homemade cake & card on the way out - kind of like when kids leave a party with a goddie bag :-)1

I think a really simple afternoon tea would be nice, nothing over the top. A couple of little sandwiches with cheap fillings, sponge cake/fairy cakes, some biscuits and tea, coffee or squash you could do it using things you have in already but otherwise you could do it for under £10 if you really put your mind to it. I think you should decide to do one thing or the other i.e card or tea party not both, i think sometimes people get embarrassed when you make too much of a fuss over what they have done. And afterall it is what family is all about. Hopefully its just enough that you might return the favour if ever needed.Everything is always better after a cup of tea1
