Hi
I have searched the index collection but can't find a recipe for chocolates/truffles.
My DD has to make chocs for school this weekend. Does anyone have good easy recipes for making choclates?
Thankyou

I have made them like this many times, and they are really easy. You can add flavourings too, eg. vanilla, orange essence, peppermint, chilli powder (yum) and decorate them by rolling in things like cocoa, icing sugar, dessicated coconut, or dipping in melted chocolate. You could make a selection and really show off!!0

Hi, Ellas
I use Delia's recipe. Really easy, though you do get messy making the truffles. Helps if you have cold hands.

Hi Muz
Thanks for the recipe...dead easy. They turned out ok (in the end!). They'd probably have been better if we had used butter instead of margarine! We added vanilla essence and rolled them in grated choc and some coated in cocoa. They were a bit messy but have set nice in the fridge.
Thanks for the links pink-winged, I can never find anything in the index..I don't know where I go wrong
Hiya PP..thanks for Delia link..I should have thought of her, the recipes never fail. Hope you're well..
Thanks all...The prototype for DD's confectionary project is now done n dusted.

Hi ellas,
You aren't going wrong, some of the indexes are a bit out of date now. I use the search but it's a pain at the best of times. If you are ever looking for something send me a pm and I'll help if I can.
I'm glad you got sorted out.

Has anyone here made their own chocolates?
I guess from scratch might be a bit tricky so could you just melt some cooking chocolate and put that in moulds, fill it and then join the 2 halves together? I love chocolate salted caramels (chocolate with a liquid caramel and sea salt centre - the sweet salty contrast is delicious) but they are so expensive (for the good ones) so thought I might try to make some with some salt, dulche caramel or boiled condensed milk and cooking chocolate??"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

Dear old Lakeland sell molds for making your own chocs and if you look on the 'what is your favourite product from lakeland' thread (or whatever its called) there was someone on there who made chocs at Xmas with great success. maybe she could help if you pm'd her ? Sorry not to be more specific about where it is but I remember reading it, as I bought the same molds for Xmas but never got round to using them and felt v guilty ! HTH0

Hi competitionscafe,
There are some links in this thread that may help:
HM Chocolates
and also some good recipes on this one:
OS Style homemade sweets/toffees/fudge
I'll add your thread to the first link later to keep the ideas together.

Edit if you search on the Special Occasions board there are more threads there that may help.0 -
There are lots of salted caramel recipes if you google, I made a honey salted caramel recipe recently, the taste of honey in them was not so good. I'd make them plain next time. They are fiddly but worth it!0

Thanks, I also found this recipe for a homemade 'healthier' version of Nutella whilst googling ( as she says Nutella is basically sugar flavoured with a bit of cocoa and hazelnuts plus lots of oil to make it spreadable). Might give that a go too.
