Is it possible to make your own chocolate from scratch? I'm guessing it's made from something like lard, sugar, cocoa and milk? Does anyone know? I think it would be great to make them and give as Xmas presents.

Sounds like it might be a lot of hassle!!I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -

I'm not sure I could be bothered to make chocolate itself but I have made chocolate truffles and packaged them up for Christmas pressies before now, went down a treat. I think St Delia probably has a recipe on her site for starters. You could also do fudge, coconut ice,Turkish delight, etc etc for a selection of goodies.0

I have made my own chocolates (not the chocolate itself) in the past and in the process I found this site www.homechocolatefactory.com. Intending to get some chocolate lolly moulds, sticks etc...for xmas for the girls to mess around with.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Indeed, she does.... here
They're incredibly easy and absolutely yummy. Once you get the hang of the combinations, you can make up your own flavoursWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
I love that recipe on Delia's site. I might try that one out. Does anyone know what's the best chocolate to use in the recipe?2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Any brand of dark chocolate, but with the highest possible percentage of cocoa solids - at least 75% and preferably 80% if you can get it. I generally use Lindt Excellence.
Others will share their suggestions, but check the percentage of cocoa solids on the label when you buy.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
