twas I that did a load of chocs at Xmas and they were sooooooo yum and admired by all. DD following in my footsteps and made peanut butter squares a la Nigella, her own made up choc truffle Xmas puds with marzipan 'sauce' , holly and berries and little biccies. I don't know where my thread is though, maybe someone clever will find it.

I did find certain aspects very frustrating though. In fact I don't think I left any recipes, just big stream of frustration and some piccies.

My mum bought me Candy making for dummies for my birthday at my request, but I haven't been able to try anything from the book yet.

I have the lakeland moulds but not used them yet. I also brought some semisweet chocolate at a chocolatier in Mexico last week, so looking forward to having a go with that, Yum! We had hot chocolate in the shop, it was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! That was all in the interests of research for my dd who has to give ideas of places for the visitors to go of course (cackles hysterically!)

I followed the instructions in this post and made white chocolate ganache filled chocs using a silicone ice-cube tray as a mould. I have also bought the Lakeland ones but have yet to use them.http://www.recipezaar.com/bb/viewtopic.zsp?t=276311

I have been meaning to try this recipe for ages so let me know if you try it and it works http://www.goodeatsblog.com/2008/12/fleur-de-sel-vanilla-bean-caramels.html

Perhaps we need to get our collective little (??hmm) @r$£s into gear and experiment a little. If we all tried a recipe a month? Wotcha think?

    hello

I would like to include some chocolates in my sons party bags - I have been looking for bug shaped ones but they will add up to be quite a bit of dosh so wondered about making my own.

Now I have found a 'bug' choc mould on ebay but am not sure what to do next - is it just as simple as melting chocolate - pouring it in the moulds and letting set?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks

I make small star shaped chocolates for people's birthdays using just chocolate melted in the microwave and pouring it in a star shaped ice cube mould, ;opping it in the fridge for a couple of hours and they turn out great

Just to say I bought a silicon mould, melted white choc in the microwave and poured it into the mould - popped it in the freezer for 30 mins and then out popped my perfect little bug shaped chocs. The mould was £10, plus the cost of the chocolate (I used Sainsbury's White cooking choc) but I still think it worked out cheaper than buying loads for the party. I was really pleased and can obviously use the mould time and time again.

  • I am thinking of making my own chocolates from scratch. It would be very helpful if somebody could point me in the right direction with buying cocoa beans, and with different recipes from around the world. Thanks very much. :D
