Sorry Kaleidescope, this is veering off topic

INTERESTINGly there was a thread started on here yesterday with a huge smiley laughing at the difficulties landlords experience... and inviting MSEers to watch this programme... the thread has disappeared.......
I too noticed that this thread seemed to have been deleted, but I think you maybe misinterpreted the OP,mchale, as he posts on here that *he is himself a LL* IIRC.

We had a huge thread discussing xxxxxxxxxxxx which was closed due to tenant dissatisfaction ...
Two things here Clutton

(1) I think it more likely it was closed because someone was repeatedly contravening Forum rules by posting with their company name, without having sought permission from MSE, and having been deleted once then proceeded to set up several false user names to self praise . The latter is a Trading Standards/false representation issue
(2) you don't know who or what the other posters are so shouldn't make assumptions

I think also, in fairness , it's worth saying that in the LL/T relationship it is the T who is the "consumer", and the MSE site *is* a consumer site.

Yes, some amongst us who are LLs post on here to help Ts try to resolve their difficulties with LAs/ LLs but that doesn't mean that other LLs can simply use the site to self promote in contravention of the Forum Rules which are quite clear ( green bar up at the top links to them) and/or be abusive to other posters.

As you are so close to Chester, Cheshire West and Chester Council's accreditation scheme for local LLs will be up and running next month- it may be worth contacting the Council for info on local private LLs. privatehousing@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk There is also a local LL association

In the Wrexham area, the local Council works with the Landlord Accreditation Wales (LAW) Scheme so you could likewise contact available their private sector rentals team for details of local LLs.

Lets in places like Rossett et al tend to get advertised locally or via word of mouth, so it is worth trawling round the specific areas and putting up a "family seeks accommodation" notice.

You may want to bear in mind that playing the "outstaying your notice game" as suggested earlier in the thread, although legally permissible, may well create difficulties for your husband at work and any future LL may feel uneasy that you would do the same to them, should they need to give notice.

It must be very unsettling for your family, but at least you have been given a few months' advance notice: many Ts don't get more than the statutory 2 months.

to be honest we would just go:cool:..I wouldnt want to risk not getting a good reference etc

Unfortunately the wrexham area is quite a way from us..we are in Flintshire..near Mold..so come under Flintshire County Council..a move to the wrexham area would mean my husband couldnt get to his job and also we would have to change the childrens schools which we cannot do as we may find we have to move on again 6 months later and then change schools again
we would be more than happy to move to the chester area, but the daft thing is that although near by..if we move to Chester..the children will be removed from their schools, my sons Aspergers means moving schools would be a logistical nightmare:(

I dont want to sound as though we are being choosy about where we live..but we dont have a second car so we need to try and stay as close to my husbands work as possible as we actually have no idea how he is going to get there.....probably by bus and because he works long and irregular hours we need to be sure of a regular bus service...we also rely on my mum for childcare so I can work so moving further away would mean I lost my childcare as my mum lives 40 miles away in the opposite direction.

Mum lives near Llandudno..and I have considered just moving that way..Im originally from Bangor anyway..if we could find a definite long term let then school change is not so much as issue..but it would mean my husband would have to look for another job...we cant win

the children we have living at home are 16 boy
9 boy
6 girl and 18 weeks girl

unfortunately we have looked at 3 beds but are yet to see any that are 3 double bedrooms so it would be a struggle to squeeze them in as in most 3 beds the third bedroom is usually dinky (at least the ones we have looked at)

I have read through your story and it is an unfortunate one, however this part of your post interested me the most.

My parents were not the richest of people, I think you might have your expectations a little too high (nothing wrong with that, except disappointment will follow when dealing with your situation)

A housing association / Council property you may end up with if you cant find anywhere privately will most likely be the kind of property you cant see you all squeezing into. I had to live in a box room with one brother whilst the other two were in the large room, and mum & dad were in the medium double.

It's all legal and above board, I hope you find somewhere privately, but if you do end in the situation where you go council or private, you would be well advised to be just grateful you have a roof.
Mortgage Balance £182,789.00 of £259,250.00 Overpayment Total £48,847.13
Monthly payment down £258.82 Overpaid last month £1096.38
End of month 11/2017

Not judging you K - transport is always a difficult one, especially when you have a family. Am familiar with the Chester/N Wales area

It's all about using any existing links and contacts - although you don't want Chester or Wrexham to live in , it may be that a LL who is a member of an accred scheme there either has properties him/herself in areas nearer to you or knows of another LL who does.

Have you checked whether Flintshire Co Council have a list of accredited private LLs?

just for the record..nope not setting expectations high at all..we have been told there is little chance of a council or housing assc house as we dont qualify as a family in need..
Im well aquainted with council house living as that is where I started out, 20 years ago with my then partner and young baby..we lived on an estate that was riddled with drugs problems and I routinely had dog dirt and on one occasion, fireworks put through my letterbox..so I doubt if anything could top that
we are in fact looking at 3 beds now as we figured that we will have to get a sofa bed and sleep in the liviing room...but a roof is a roof

incidentally..finding a deposit is our main problem and even the three beds round here seem to have hefty deposits..however I will be ebaying as of tomorrow in an attempt to raise funds
