this thread is a real joy to read, not because it's inspiring how dedicated you are at saving money on a very low budget but the fact that you're saving money and living your life and have very much enjoyed the community feel on this!
Good luck mate, keep up the good work0 -
Good luck to you! It seems tough, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Btw. congrats on getting out of debt! :-)0 -

Our rate was available with a 15% deposit, but we went for a bit higher. Yes a higher deposit = a better rate but is it worth spending all the extra in rent whilst you save up the bigger deposit? From personal experience 15% is a reasonable amount to save and gets a decent rate.
We were very lucky with our deposit (well kind of!) in that OH had a bad accident when he was younger and received a fairly large amount of compensation which covered it.Kitchen Debt - 2820/260Save £12k in 2013 #060: 1293.24/3000MFW: 88760.00/85000.00 (4.24% paid)0 -

Well done on exceeding your target. :T Perhaps you ought to change your signature ID now to something more appropriate to your new philosophy !!0

Well done, that's great progress :j.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hope you give yourself a big pat on the back.
Have a lovely Christmas and a prosperous New Year0 -
That's brilliant mw:T
Fantastically well done you!
Primrose might have a point - and it would be a no-spend old-style pleasure:D.
I bet Mum and Dad are impressed with how you've turned your Life around and I'm thinking how much better prepared YOU are now to manage on less, than those[the many thousands]who are suddenly having to face it for the first time as cuts, redundancies and low wages bite, with higher fuel and food prices, plus diminishing employment protection all kicking in for the coming few years.
If you had to face a severe learning curve, mw, Thanks Heavens you met yours when you did. You are a brilliant template for others to follow.
