They have g one with 2 other children one is the same age as DD and her brother who is 9. Spoke to DH and he thinks its ok as long as they are in a group.

Bunny, I know it's easy for me to say since I'm not a mother, but things aren't really different nowadays. The big danger is more cars on the road but other than that things are no more dangerous than they were when we were kids.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

With regards to letting the kids go out, apparently the statistics for incidents haven't changed since the 1980s, it's probably more about your maternal protective feelings towards them.
