  • OK, the alicorna one isn't very good because it doesn't allow you to enter the display name for the email address.

Use http://www.codehouse.com/webmaster_tools/email_obfuscator/ instead - enter email address and 'Contact U8's' for optional display text.

  • Tom,

Is there a reason you are trying to hide the email address from the bottom left hand corner of the page...? If someone clicks it the real address will always be visible to see in the users email programme. However the following will achieve what you need:

    <a href="MailTo:phoenix@v21.me.uk" onMouseOver="window.status='Your Choice of message to display here';return true" onMouseOut="window.status='';return true">Under 8's</a>

This can also be incorporated to the hidemail scripts supplied. (Although I am sure that most spambots can now decode the scripts we have supplied to you)

The poll and or feedback is slightly more difficult given that you don't have any server side processing options, you might want to do a search for formmail which used to provide a free option to process scripts for you.

    Best Regards

    Kevin

Okay where, the smiley has appeard replace this with the following:

    ":P" without the quotes
  • Kevin, Someone said to me it was a good idea to hide the email address so the spiders and bots cant see it and send me tons of spam  I'm hiding it for that reason alone.

I suppose I could do a poll where they submit it and it gets sent to my email
I could use some flash animations to jazz the site up a bit..any ideas ? I've been trying to find some 'stick men' playing football, I thought they would look good, but cant find anything :(

Thanks again for your help

Can I suggest that you think long and hard before including flash animations? Lots of people thoroughly dislike them and find them very distracting. They also tend to make pages very slow to load especially if people are on a dial up connection - on my site stats that's about a third of the visitors. If things don't load in a few seconds people are likely to click away - research shows that pages that take more than 8 seconds lose a huge number of visitors. In Dreamweaver 3 it shows the estimated loading time on a bar at the bottom for each page - probably still there on the all singing all dancing v8 that you've got.
  • I take your point
I checked and nearly all the pages load in 1-2 secs.
I thought it might be good to have something to jazz it up a bit....Some sites can look a bit dull with out graphics or animations.

  • For polls see:
    http://www.bravenet.com/webtools/minipoll/
    http://www.misterpoll.com/
    http://www.snappoll.com/

no doubt these would contain adverts, so if you can use a DIY method and host it on your own web server all the better, but that depends on what your ISP provides. Not something I've done myself so I don't know what's involved in the DIY method.
  • chippy, Have you had a go and put the BBC RSS feeds into a webpage yet ?
I was looking for some kind of football ticker to place in the site and keep upto date with news, I'm not quite sure how its done yet

edit > managed to get a newsreader on the page...I'm having a problem getting it to appear on every page. I can get it on about 7 pages, not sure why it doesnt appear on all. If you get a min, can someone take a look ?
